1) They really don't eat as much as you think because they naturally practice intermittent fasting or OMAD without knowing it. Lets say you and Bob are going to go out to eat at the local steakhouse tonight. Your ass eats McDonalds for breakfast, snacks, Starbucks frap, a huge chipotle bowl for lunch, snacks, eats at the steak house and comes home and finishes a tub of Ice cream or drinks a 6 pack of beer later that night. Bobby probably skipped breakfast because he didn't have time, half a sub way sub for lunch and threw it out, and goes and pigs out at the steak house because he is starving from not eating all day. You and Bob are not the same, so quit with the false comparisons. Oh, but I went on vacation with Bob to Las Vegas and I saw him pig out every day. Guess what? You don't get fat over a week of eating like ****, you get fat from years of eating like ****.

2) Eating healthy vs eating to be skinny are two different things. A person that eats healthy can still eat high calorie dense foods and large portions vs a skinny person can still be in a deficit by eating junk food

3) It's not really ideal and sustainable and that's where you get the metabolism slows as you age myth so people are going to be fat regardless bs

There's more complex layers to it than that and most people still find success without being totally aware, but pretty much yeah.

My ex had a thyroid problem and despite being a vegetarian she would lose and gain weight when her levels were in flux.

It's not just pigging out or having no self control for everyone.

I had a coworker who was kicked off his professional sports team because he couldn't gain enough weight. He ate and ate and ate and just stayed stick skinny, and he was devastated that his metabolism was too high to play his sport at a high level

Later I learned he had terrible anxiety and only ate once a day, if that

I kind of agree with the first point. I specifically skip meals or eat less when I'm going to be having a large or special meal later in the day.

I knew somebody with a thyriod problem too, and I saw her drink a gallon sized whiskey and coke the first time I met her

"I eat a ton of food and I never get fat, I DON'T KNOW WHY" people typically eat like birds because they spent years in a home where it was conditioned.

This is a very common occurrence in:
  • low income homes with large families (although not exclusive to poor households)
  • households with heads who "monitor" portions (either for health concerns, habitual conservation, or strict frugality) which can also occur in wealthier families
  • abusive homes where one child is treated poorly compared to siblings, including receiving less food
  • families that lack an understanding of physically larger adolescents and teens requiring more food for optimal development, which can cause them to spend early adulthood unknowingly eating at a deficit according to their biology.
Bottom line: most people who believe they're walking trash compactors who can never get fat are not eating large enough quantities to do so and unknowingly have an abnormal perception of what a large meal actually is. Many of these people, particularly young skinny men, meet this realization when they ambitiously attempt to bulk up in the gym while still eating like a bird...

Exactly, I grew up with the you are a growing boy, eat all this **** so you can grow, so putting on muscle was easy because I could easily eat 3k-4k calories a day consistently. My skinny friend that grew up poor couldn't pack on muscle because no matter how much he eats, he was capped at 2k calories max and if he did he wouldn't eat much the next day.

Most of my skinny friends who say they eat a lot really, really don't.

The exception is my cousin and one of my best friends, who simply cannot bulk. He went all in trying to bulk up for college football, I helped him with it, and he just could not break the weight limit. Got cut as all hell, but even at 6'3", he had a hard limit.

it's not just about stuffing yourself silly for a week and calling it a bulk session, you need to consistently eat high calories for months at a time and if you aren't used to eating like that or eating high calories dense foods properly than that's not sustainable.

Well since you sound like a pro at this, I've been on a soup diet. I eat tons of protein, low carbs, low sugar, low starch so it's low calories. Is that good? It's packed with sodium tho since they are soups.
