drinking alcohol is one of the worst socially acceptable 'foods' that you can choose to put into your body

Depends on how it affects your life...if it gets in the way of having a healthy relationship with your family, job, etc, then it's a problem.

If not, then just like any other 'Drug/Vice' (painkillers, pills, porn) then just manage with it the best way you can.

It is an issue when drunk in excess but is also a good pain reliever, moderation is the key.

Alcohol allows people to say shit like, I love you all, here on PotD. Idk you guys. Not anywhere close to an intimate level.

But it makes one feel and say things that they wouldnt normally.

ive stayed away from the shit for so long but when you embrace the drink... you change in a good way. At least thats what Im finding.

Alcohol is probably the single greatest cause of society's problems. Across the board it's linked to domestic abuse, traffic accidents, violence, rape, and other criminal conduct, as well as generally lowering societal productivity.

And without alcohol, a lot of other nonsense -- like sporting events -- would likely go by the wayside because people usually need a buzz to watch them.

idk, extreme moderation sounds better. If something is good, why can't more of it be better?!

It can be both or none at all but whatever the case I'm sure there are more effective and less harmful painkillers than poisoning your body and if you have a drink problem it's best to get help.

A drunk man speaks a sober mans thoughts or something. Although alcohol effects folk differently. I have even less of a filter when drunk but don't say things I wouldn't normally. Other folk however become violent so it's best for those folk to get help.

Not really. Sure alcohol and sports can go hand in hand as alcohol is a form of relaxation but it's certainly not a must for sports fans to watch something they enjoy watching.

It depends on the person and the level of drunkenness.

Some people get goofy and affectionate. Some people get violent and "10-feet tall & bulletproof"

Every single one of those would still be happening without alcohol.

The lack of personal responsibility is the true cause of all that's wrong with the world, not alcohol.

No, many of them wouldn't. Alcohol directly influences behavior by reducing impulse control, as well as causing other problems due to loss of coordination, etc. Anybody who believes that a driver is as reliable intoxicated as he is sober is... well, there's not a good word for a belief that stupid.

Alcohol consumption is both a symptom of and a cause for that lack of personal responsibility. You have entire generations that have been scarred by alcohol, with babies being impacted by alcohol use before they were even born who, after being born, are put into negative environments due to alcohol consumption and very frequently grow up with issues resulting from both factors which, among other things, drive their own alcohol consumption.

And while you can argue that people choose to pick up the bottle, that decision impacts countless people around them (especially children)

Guess it's not worth it to avoid smoking or sunburns, since cancer could still arise even if you take precautions!

Revisit what you said until you realize why it was a bad take.

You should revisit what you assumed from my posts. Also Zues implyed that alcohol was the cause of those issues and I simply corrected him that those issues would still exist without alcohol (I also wish those issues didn't exist). So, yeah, nothing wrong with my post.

Relying on alcohol as a painkiller (physical or otherwise) is one of the primary ways it can become a serious issue. It's best to treat it as a recreational activity (with some associated risks), not a solution to anything.

Merely thinking of it as a way to cope with any sort of pain is a step towards reliance and substance abuse. It's how things become a problem.

When some folk are under the influence they are more inclined to do these things though. To say alcoholics or even alcohol in general isn't linked to some of these things is bad even for you. Mind you IF what was posted here about your behaviour is true I'm not at all surprised you would be this way.
