So many holidays get packed into Oct - Feb, it'd be great to have another one when it's warm and sunny out. If our founding fathers hadn't decided to sign their declaration in July, we'd have no holidays at all between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The problem with US holidays is that we have very little culture to create holidays from, compared to countries like Germany and Japan which crazy cultural heritage. The last time I thought about it before it became a big political correctness thing was in elementary school. Its similar to the national anthem. Was anyone excited that the national anthem at sporting events? They made a joke on The Simpsons about everyone cheering when the announcer said they would forgo the nation anthem.
