LOL I bought the game like a week ago. I can testify that it's a decent port though, and re-visiting it for me was a huge reaffirmation of how good it is, especially the music. Every level theme in that game is fantastic.
By the way, almost every other SEGA game on Steam is heavily discounted right now too. SA2 for example is like 2 dollars. --- I'm playing every game from GotD 2020! Games Completed: 8/129 Currently Playing: Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty ... Copied to Clipboard!

I love how there is the Sonic Ultimate Bundle, which has all (I think) the games at a heavy discount, and it looks like the sweetiest bundle ever...but then they ruin it by having Team Sonic Racing (A spin off that I assume most Sonic fans don't care about) at a full price

The games are all discounted at those prices outside of the bundle, so the bundle's pointless right now.
The bundle exists to save money when the stuff isn't on sale. EDIT: Oh wait I guess the extra 10% off still exists even with the sale. Apparently you can change the extension and it will work in most emulators so technically this is a free way to obtain a legal ROM
