I can't do the math on what he would've needed to top her in newstats but free and clear on overall stats at least, he needed to hit 31st to stay ahead of her.

oof 11th... but hey I'll stick to the positives, a good showing for Tidus. He certainly made it far further than I expected (I was privately expecting his downfall every round after Lulu went out). It's gonna be weird just not... caring as much about this every day now, but at least I won't have to f5 so often. Congrats to team Seymour! And condolences to the mains of the other 12 who haven't been released from their burdens just yet. And thanks again to everyone and especially Martin for making me feel welcome and enduring my endless contest queries.

Aw I just wanted some possible good news.

I remember when moonroof started his trolling I was worried it would turn people away from Tidus. Keep an eye on that for Tifa, Martin!

Maybe I will become a contest villain. Who was it who killed Tidus, Inviso? Sure would be sad if something happened to that Garnet... Now that I think about it, maybe this was all a ploy to get back at me for killing Faris by saving Lulu...

Also FF7 has now officially got 4x the reps of any other game.

In case it wasn't clear, this was a joke. Well... 90% a joke, I was a little sore right after the elim >_>

I'll just say one more thing today: the first half of this contest was great fun for me and I had a blast, but recently it has been mostly stress, anxiety, and this silly meaningless forum contest occupying way too much space in my mind. For the first time I kinda understood that Inviso story of being upset in the car after a lawyering took their char out temporarily. I don't even know why really. At the end of each round I'd get a rush of satisfaction whenever Tidus was safe, then almost immediately the anxiety about the next round would come creeping in. Not healthy I know.

Hopefully being a free agent will bring the fun back into it for the last couple weeks, no more panicking if this'll be the day or wondering when savers are gonna show up or who's gonna prioritise what today etc. Sorry if I've been a bit obnoxious in these threads lately, I'll be a more background player again from tomorrow.

(Also congrats to Cecil for being the highest placed past winner!)

Yeah you really are part of the gang now, hahaha. I'm the same way, all easy-breezy when nothing's really at stake and it's just tertiary and quartiary(?) characters on the line. When it gets real, it gets real. You haven't been obnoxious, it's been great! (But maybe that's just me and I'm still oblivious to my own obnoxiousness...)

Definitely envy the users who are casual about it all. It really is so dumb to get obsessed about a meaningless contest and I told myself last year I wouldn't ever again but it's worse than ever now, I just get so competitive, we've gotten so far, don't want it to end... I already told myself I'll quit after next year, we'll see if that sticks.

Like it was an early round today so I think, great, I can get on with the rest of my day and be super productive... no, I'm still thinking about the round and how badly it ended and whatever the next round will bring.

And then everything's out of your control. You never know what kind of advantages can accompany having history here, or friendships, or being on the discord. Don't have any of that, all I can do is whatever's in my control to do... which is so little in the grand scheme of things, which just builds on the frustration.

Can't stop now though!! But need to figure out how to not care for that day rapidly approaching when the non-caring needs to be in place, it's going to be so bad...

I am definitely looking forward to the (hopeful) return of SMDC where I was very casual and don't see myself getting obsessed with, that'll be a refreshing change of pace!

I feel this heavily, and part of me just wants to quit right now, which would probably frustrate everyone around me and other savers, but my mental health and life issues surrounding me feel so bad and I feel so helpless that being able to focus on my personal life again and try to get it back on track without distractions just feels pivotal.

I dunno, I think this is my last serious year and I just... need to relax or something. Focus on bigger things in life than save mys.

Having some emotional investment, some skin in the game, that's what makes it all worthwhile! The cowards are the ones who run away from this drama! Crying, laughing, loving when you win and cursing when you lose...these are what life's made of!

But I mean don't take it so seriously you can't compartmentalize it within this contest.

I feel like I should quit every year. I even missed 79% of last year but then Lightning's Revenge pulled me back in.

At least lefty's rounds are at more predictable times and are usually better for my sleep schedule. Leonhart had like a twenty hour window where he might post rounds. I was afraid to sleep.

I must say, the journey to finally have my #1 as the final character standing from his game sure was a long one. Every year he's made a decent run, someone else has always had a better one. From Tidus winning the contest, to Rikku barely outlasting him and making the top 5 to last year's Auron redemption run, Seymour was always just a step behind. It's a cool thing to see really, though obviously Tidus is my #2 overall so it wasn't as if I'm glad he went out here, especially since he could have went up in the stats with just a little more surviving. Unfortunately we didn't get the alert here today and missed substantial time, costing us hour 3 so there was no way to help out.

It's kinda comforting to know a lot of you feel this sorta way too (not in a bad way!), I was pretty embarrassed at how I got so into this contest so quickly. I think Martin's point about control is really the crucial factor, the little bits of control this contest gives are probably why we get so invested and why it hurts so bad when things spiral out.

Like I kept thinking before how if I'd just posted NRs a few mins earlier or offered finals saves that it would've gone differently, not thinking about how it makes zero difference to wonder about that now. It's so weird, after yesterday's round I completely accepted Tidus's inevitable elim today but then by halfway through today's round I was thinking he'd be ok and it caught me off guard again.

I mean today will have been by far the worst of it for me (and I'm fine now), I hope Martin/VI/GMUN/Roba and the rest of you can handle the upcoming week and a half well. I totally see how some people just hard quit these contests altogether now (and I can't imagine what it's like for lefty, no wonder the hosts only last 3 years). Man how did any of you survive that 24 hours of rounds in a row.

And hey @VeryInsane or anyone else, if you feel like dropping out for your own mental health or any other reason, by all means do it. Gotta take care of yourself, no shame or guilt in that! You don't owe anyone your continued presence here, and besides it's not like the contest will disappear you could always drop back in if you wanted to.
