i haven't blasted through a ton of series lately, but in the last few weeks i've gone through a lot

- dark (netflix) - kinda corny a lot of the time, but genuinely mindbending. as with many shows with this type of mystery/sci-fi spin, the ending is a little iffy. but it's one of the most fun mysteries i've seen in a show, almost like a more interesting S1 stranger things.

- dragon's dogma (netflix) - apparently this is based off a capcom video game? like castlevania, the first episode was almost too dumb to watch. but the ending of it gave some promise, so i'm now one episode away from finishing it. it reminds me a lot of kino's journey, the way that each themed episode kind of looks at this microcosm of humanity and "why humans suck," basically. its GRIMDARK tone is probably OTT for the silliness that it is and the nudity - obviously there for titillation - is embarrassing. but i'm looking forward to how it ends!

- the great (hulu) - my favorite of these. the tone is masterful. the thing most distracting was the fact that the characters looked so obviously british instead of russian, so i'd get really thrown when they'd point out someone's name was "symov" or "velementov." incredibly well-developed cast of characters, with my only dislike being leo.

The Flash - Has gone downhill a lot, but I keep watching for reasons I dont understand anyways. It would be much better if Iris didnt get so much focus.

Gotham - on the final season. Sad it got canceled.

Preacher - have like 1.5 seasons left to go

Lucifer - on S5 and its pretty solid

Cobra Kai, two episodes in, it's like exactly what I would have wanted/expected.

Star Trek The Next Generation - mainly just as background noise unless it's a really interesting episode

Cobra Kai S2 - I marathoned S1 back when that came out but this one hasn't hooked me

ReZero S2

The Witcher - just okay, season 2 has potential I think

Good Omens - started strong but really fizzled out by the end. It was only 6 episodes though so I still recommend it

Ozark - doesn't really compete with Breaking Bad despite the obvious similarities but it was still pretty good

The Expanse - my friends keep telling me I need to watch this show so I'm on episode 2 now. I hear the first season is not very good but it's already drawn me in with a pretty cool Sci-Fi world so good news if it only keeps getting better

I rewatched 30 Rock at the start of quarantine and its still fantastic. Think its at the top of my nbc comedies of that Era (office, parks and rec, etc).

What We Do In The Shadows is what i discovered during S2. The first 4-5 can drag at times, but after that the end of S1 into S2 cements it as the best current comedy. Barry is still a better overall show, but those two are definitely worth watching.

Aside from that The Boys S2 is more than halfway through and is really good. I think a step down from the first season but im excited for the last two episodes

Yeah I gave up on Shadows after 3 or 4 episodes because it really wasn't grabbing me. All of the characters had the same sort of wacky energy it felt like

I almost gave up after the same amount of time. Try again and power through the first half of season 1. It really does turn incredible in the second, with S2 just firing on all cylinders

If you see Barons Night Out and don't like it I fully agree to give up

Dark S3 - Really dug the first two seasons, but now I'm most of the way through the 3rd seasons and it's honestly getting a little over convoluted for me at this point

The Infinity Train S1 - Loving it so far, really strong Gravity Falls/Adventure Time vibes

Fargo S4 - Just premiered, first episode was intense and excellent

The Boys S2 - Still the same over-the-top dark superhero violence I've come to expect

The Legend of Korra (series rewatch) - Series is as solid as I remembered it being, with some notable weaknesses in the first two seasons

Lovecraft Country S1 - Only two episodes in. Really intriguing stylistically so far but I'm not sure where it's going yet

I think that's all I'm on right now but I might be forgetting something

I want to hear more about Lovecraft Country. The first episode was ok, the second episode (to me) was so badly paced I lost interest and haven't watched anymore

Star Wars Rebels S3 - I actually think this show has continuously gone downwards quality-wise. I still enoy it but, while in S1 I was very happy that they started being rebels after 3 episodes, I almost feel like the episodic nature of it now drags the rest of the story down. I think there's less focus on the characters, but it isn't being replaced with an overarching narrative or anything like that. Also kinda sad to see how they managed to avoid/skirt around Ezra being a kid, and now in S3 they have gone fully into making him an insufferable brat.

The Dick Van Dyke Show S3 - This is a fun show. There's not too many clear stand-outs, but I've also only had about one episode that I really didn't like, so quality-wise this show is pretty good. There was a bad stretch in S2 where about 4 episodes in a row they tried to work a cheating angle, but you get through it. Mary Tyler Moore is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, that also helps.

haven't really binged anything recently, but I'm watching Always Sunny episodes when I have like nothing to do for 20 minutes, I used to love this show but fell off it somewhere around the sixth season or so

I'm on season 9 now and it's still great, dunno why I didn't keep watching this
