let's suppose you accidentally hit someone's car whether you were a driver or pedestrian and you caused damage...but no one saw it and there were no CCTV cameras or neighborhood cameras that caught you in the act..what would you do? let's see what the majority would vote....

If I did damage, I'd leave my name and number. If I didn't do damage, I might leave.

Once, I bumped someone in a parking lot with my car door, and left a note.
Once, I swerved away from someone coming the other way and got way too close to the center of the road; I hit the sideview mirror of a parked car. I found the owner, and promised to repair it, which he never held me to.
Once, in an act of genuine bad driving, my car grinded up against the side of someone's parked RV. I pulled over, looked at the damage, and then beat a hasty retreat.

Those are most recent to longest ago. I think I was still in college when that first one happened.

I hate to admit that it would depend.

If the car looked expensive and the damage was superficial, I'd be more likely to leave without giving my name/number

And if i was in a rush that could affect my decision as well

I've seen friends get burned. If I'm going to accept responsibility, i need to stay and take pictures etc to make sure they don't collude with their mechanic to run up the bill
