It was put out by his defense either today or yesterday. YouTube buried it hard. It seems to synch up well with what the New York Times put out, but has a bit more detail, including the identity of the person who shot first.

In my opinion it lays it on pretty thick, with the music and the listing of prior charges by all of the people involved. This will probably create a lot of tension.

Im not going to try and link to it, but I figured some other people here must have seen it by now.

Read about it, but haven't seen it yet. Sounds like it further confirms the self defense argument, though the last shooting is still up in the air and deserves a trial.

Yup. As I recall, he was walking towards KR with the gun out, but his hands up, walking slowly and trying to deescalate, and Kyle shot him in the arm. There's enough of an argument for either side on whether the shooting was justified.

It has some footage of it. The argument made in the video is that he initially had his hands up and then rushed him. It also goes into some things he said to a friend about wishing he hadnt hesitated and just blown him away. Im not sure if the available footage can say one way or another, but the secondhand comments from his friends seem a bit beside the point and were clearly only included to paint them in a bad light.

There is footage from Grosskreutz's own stream in which he approaches Rittenhouse to ask what he is doing. Rittenhouse responds that he is going to the police because he shot someone and Grosskreutz seems to yell for others to stop him.

He absolutely shouldn't have been there or had a rifle, but if that video is to be believed, they straight up ganged up on him while he was trying to run away to get police and wouldn't stop. With at least two other people whipping out their own guns, and more shots from who knows where like a food fight effect, I think anybody in his situation would have been afraid for their lives.

So, I just watched the video.

It didn't really provide a lot of information I haven't already mentioned in other topics about this.

It lays out what I think is a good telling of the events and a compelling argument for self defense.

They play up the emotionalism a bit much though.

The self-defense argument doesn't hold a lot a water for a gun who illegally owned guns and traveled across state lines to use them against protesters, then killed people.

This isn't George Zimmerman being attacked and defending himself.

This is Travis McMichael going after someone with a gun then claiming self-defense when the victim responded.

It's kinda insulting to people who really did defend themselves to group them together.

He didn't cross state lines with the gun, he didn't travel to there to shoot anyone, and having the gun underage is a misdemeanor and doesn't prevent him from claiming self defense.

If he got the gun later that's news to me but doesn't change the ultimate point

"He didn't travel there to shoot anyone" is speculation.

And considering he traveled there with an aillegal gun and shot people. I don't buy it.

You seem to be ignoring the context intentionally. He traveled across state lines (with or without a gun) to a protest of people he hated while illegally owning a gun, then killed people with that gun.

It's kinda hard to claim self-defense in that context.

If this was a muscular black dude who shot a bunch of white girls in the same circumstance literally no one would be making the weak arguments you are presentng

Facts:

He traveled across state lines to counter a protest of people he didn't like
He illegally brought a gun
He then killed the people he didn't like

That supports that he intended to shoot people. Not that he never intended to hurt a fly.

Which as I said is news to me but doesn't change anything. He still crossed state lines and had an illegal firearm with the intent to go to a protest full of people he hated and oppose them, then shot the people he hated.

Arguing he hated them is a pretty egregious case of speculation, unless you have something to support it. And that you didn't know he didn't bring an illegally owned rifle across state borders indicates you and factually uninformed about this case.

Based on the information available, he was there to protect businesses and provide medical aid. That is why he can be seen with a med-bag, fire extinguisher and gun. Its why he is seen yelling for wounded people to come to him, because he is an EMT.

Nothing he has done invalidates his right to self defense, especially when all the evidence we do have blatantly shows he only shot people who were actively assaulting him and only after he attempted to retreat.

It's pretty obvious it was self-defense and nothing will prevent him from claiming that.

Also he lives a mile from the border of IL and WI. So it's not really as huge a point as people are making it out to be that he crossed over. I'm pretty sure crossing over is probably a daily thing for people there.

He referred to himself as an EMT in the released footage when trying to find people who were injured. As far as I can tell, he is not. He has first aid training to some degree or another due to being a lifeguard, but Im not certain what degree of training that is.
