Other than that awesome scene, the rest of it was good/OK. Some nice callbacks and a decent story with decent characters. It's better than the ST, but not as much as people like to hype it to be imo

I hate to be that guy, but that scene and the movie are overrated.

Luke vs Vader where Luke snaps and starts wailing on Vader with the music swelling and such will always be the best SW scene to me.

Pretty shit movie. Not for that reason, just for lack of interesting story or characters.

you hear a creak, which is him opening his way into the room. After that the breathing starts, once he's close enough for them to hear them

Solo is just Rogue One without a Vader scene.

And as much as people like that Vader scene, it fucks up canon and doesnt line up with the start of A New Hope at all.

Some people think Vader turns off the control panel lights on his chest plate and sometimes like to complain about that, but he actually doesn't. His suit in RO is modeled after the ANH suit which didn't light up in the first place. So it's not an error or some sort of rule bending thing

The scene makes ANH nonsensical in retrospect, like why did Vader send stormtroopers to their deaths if he could handle it himself? Was he just too winded for round 2? And the Empire obviously knows it's the right ship so why does Leia even put up an act as if they weren't just in the middle of a giant space battle a moment ago? Impostor!

I honestly think it makes Lena's act make MORE sense.

Like, yeah, its not gonna work. But think about it.

"I'm a member of the imperial senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan -"

"YOU ARE PART OF A REBEL ALLIANCE AND A TRAITOR! TAKE HER AWAY!"

That line is, to my knowledge, the ONLY time we ever hear vader yell/raise his voice in the ENTIRE trilogy. The ONLY time. Of COURSE it would be in response to a blatant, obvious, bullshit lie that was so bad its insulting his intelligence. Like, "Bitch, I literally JUST SAW you flying away!"

He could always have handled them himself. That's one of the reasons he's so scary. We know he'd kick the ass of a whole crew of soldiers. We watched him block Han's shots with an open palm without even drawing a lightsaber in ESB.

Vader has always been a threat of a different magnitude, but the filmmakers decided not to show him fighting ordinary soldiers. Maybe they thought it was gratuitous in some way. Point being, Vader could easily have taken any number of those rebels in a crowded hallway, but he didn't have to. That scene was the very first scene in Star Wars history, so it was used to establish: "These are Stormtroopers, they're the infinite and expendable footsoldiers of the Empire--and this is Darth Vader. He's the kind of badass who lifts a dude all the way off the floor while one-hand choking him to death."

I don't think there was ever any doubt that Vader was insurmountable by normal means. That's why Obi Wan was "their only hope." They needed a Jedi.

I liked Rogue One better than any of the sequel trilogy. The monks and the robot were really fun. And I liked the set-pieces and the world building. It actually felt like it was trying to flesh out the Galaxy.

idk if I liked it enough to go out of my way to watch it again, tho >_>
