We don't want "here's $5000 for everyone based on race now go back to your old problems once it runs out. Also forget poor white people". Fixing problems that plague black communities would be the only approach. It's not just about money.

Ending diseased motives like the drug war, deal with the lack of high quality public education healthcare and childcare, give black people opportunities along with the rest of poor society to actually climb the economic ladder. A couple things that the older generations had and destroyed.

If your gonna do anything, do it for everyone who earned (including interest from assets) less than 50k for the last 3 years. Color of your skin should not be an issue EVER and the last thing we need to do is start making it an issue on purpose. We should be fighting to ensure it isn't an issue for everyone.

You want reperations? Fine, tax the wealthiest americans to make up for the tax cuts and loop holes over the last 20+ years and split that money with all the poor/middle class. That is something that has been done NOW that should be dealt with, and it would make a difference in alot of lives.

Less than 50k for 3 years is far too low of a limit for this.

My package for reparations wouldn't necessarily include a written check.

What needs to happen is assistance in rebuilding infrastructure in these communities. Stop the bias system that makes taking a loan out for POC more difficult, so that they can invest it in their community. Stop drawing political lines to keep marginalized people in the same area, then under fund and over police it. Stop undermining voting rights in those communities by making it difficult to vote. Take steps to close the education disparity between communities

And if we're giving away money for past atrocities, Native Americans should be the first in line anyway...

Reparations are utterly stupid, inherently unfair, and patently racist.
And any politician that supports it will get fucking massacred at the voting booth (at least in statewide and federal elections...Congressional districts are gerrymandered to hell so anything could go in some of those).

I'm fine with the paying reperations to someone who was directly wronged like a victim of police brutality but your family getting fucked over years before you were born should entitle you to nothing. It might have been the reason you were born into a poor family but theres plenty of people that were born into a poor family with just as little control over it as you were that deserve the same amount of help you do.

I DO very much think we should be doing everything we can to help the poor. I think UBI coupled with temporarily stepping up police efforts could be a good way to convince people that crime just isn't worth the risk but I don't trust the current police force to be doing it. Its so hard to fix any issue because so much shit is just beyond broken that fixing one tiny thing necessitates fixing 50 other things but it still needs to be done.

African immigrants come here with nothing and get rich real quick all the time. They don't have family, they would have to deal with the same racism, plus the struggle of not speaking English natively. But they tend to be insanely successful.

It's not race, it's culture. A culture of sitting around getting free shit vs a culture that comes here and actually works hard.
