I've (very) slowly been working my way through the DGS2 LP since they put it all back up. I'm about through the first investigation day of case 4. This premise feels like an epic case, but there's still one more to go. I wonder if they'll roll this into the fifth case, kinda like DD did.

There's a late-game way to "farm" party affinity, but even utilizing that trick, it'll take a few hours to grind everyone to max.

That's one of the less often mentioned weaknesses of the game, imo - raising affinity just takes too long, so most players will be locked out of a ton of Heart-to-Hearts.

He has access to Flabbergasted Jerome which he can farm for Affinity right now. But I'm not exactly sure how strong one has to be to farm it efficiently. I didn't do my Affinity farming until the end of the game.

Yeah, it's kind of a bummer because I want to get all the Heart to Hearts. They aren't up to the quality of your average Persona S. Link, but I've been enjoying the ones I've had access to so far.

It's easy to level up affinity for Shulk (I've already got him to max with Reyn and Dunban), the others not so much.

I'm not totally sure what to make of it, but this is a reveal trailer and they've (presumably) got a lot of time to refine it. Nothing particularly stands out about any of it.

Definitely gonna need to see how the game develops. Most of my FF16 optimism comes from who's running the show rather than the trailer itself, which was admittedly a tad middling.

Bears repeating: I will be immediately hyped if Natsuko Ishikawa is revealed to be the main writer. Anyone who's played Shadowbringers knows why.

The setting seems so rife for open world that I'm surprised all they did was showcase action and story. Is the open world trend behind us finally!?

Meanwhile this kid Renne in SC seems like the most annoying loli in the series. Too bad in CS2 Bleaublanc I think hinted something about her. And I do not look forward to her being important.

Renne might be my favorite Trails character. Top 2 for sure but it's close between her and Estelle. Also I agree she improves a lot as the games go on but I was a fan from the start.

Altina probably my pick for most improved character since I really didn't care about her at all but then she ended up as one of the highlights of CS3.

I actually thought Olivier was at his best in the Sky games, but it's sort of a moot point since he's great all the time.

In Xenoblade, I'm about to head into the High Entia Tomb to help Melia out with her ritual, exploiting a loophole that allows us to interfere since we're Homs (and a Nopon). Melia is wearing a weird mask for some reason. Shulk and Alvis discuss their abilities to see the future and how they differ. Alvis hasn't been able to foresee any danger befalling Melia, unlike Shulk.

Then Alvis discusses how the Monado has the ability to manipulate ether, and when you can do that, you can make your will a reality, whatever it may be. That's why the High Entia sealed it away, but it's still a mystery as to how it ended up in Shulk's hands from there.

I mean I get it's a gameplay mechanic more than anything else but from a storyline perspective it doesn't make much sense...!

I decided to start a replay of Breath of the Wild last week.

That game is still incredible, and I feel like there's enough content I missed the first time that I'm finding plenty of new things as I go through again. Plus I never did the DLC.

Well, I'm basically getting the average price, from the looks of it, but transmissions are never cheap. The problem is that I need my vehicle for work, so I've got to just bite the bullet on this one.

Xenoblade Chapter 8 beated!

The High Entia Tomb was pretty cool. Melia speaks to an AI reproduction of one of her ancestors, who gives her the approval to be the next (and probably the last, according to him) ruler of the High Entia. Apparently, she's 80% Homs now, and this was part of a plan from the beginning to break some sort of High Entia curse by mixing their genetic data or something of that nature. He doesn't really elaborate on that, saying it's of no consequence, but it feels pretty consequential!

After saving Melia, Shulk gets an audience with the Emperor, who shares an ancient prophecy about the awakening of the Bionis. Apparently, the unsealing of the Monado is what set these events into motion. The fact that the ether is weakening is a sign that the Bionis is waking up, and if it does, that obviously will result in the full extinction of all life on it. Shulk is denied entry to Prison Island because the High Entia sealed another powerful artifact there at some point, even though the Emperor doesn't know what it is.

Then we cut to the Mechon leaders (I assume), and apparently, they are ready to unleash a full-scale invasion of Bionis, complete with a new weapon.

Then it died again, found out the alternator wasn't charging it cause that was bad.

And then one day it doesn't start up because the starter went bad. Cars suck
