Jeez, when I added rogue legacy to my favorites list on steam, I have pretty much more EA games then non EA games on there now. Games basically that I'm waiting to get finished before I play (hades, last epoch, grim clicker etc etc).

Some have been on for years already *sigh*

SCUM has been on my wishlist for like 2 years and Temtem has been on there since January lol.

I guess Astroneer isn't Early Access anymore but that's been there a while.

It looks very fun but I was hoping for a sale so my friend and I can get it at the same time. Reminds me of LBP a bit, and definitely seems like something I'd want to play in co-op.

If it helps, Factorio recently left Early Access. That's meant very little for actual major changes to the game, since it's been pretty much finalized since the first experimental 0.18 build went live back in January and everything since then has been bugfixes and smaller tweaks, but the game has officially launched as of August 14th.

I don't have Factorio, so it doesn't help me lol. I mostly have a ton of rogue lites/metroidvanian and diablo II style games in early access (maybe a few RPGs as well).

I very much look at it on a case-by-case basis. Most EA games are unfinished trash and can be safely ignored, but there are plenty that release as worthwhile games that are just going to keep getting more content. Factorio was one example of that, where it was already a very solid game by the time it was released on Steam in 2016 (they'd released it through their website first), and it's continued to receive content updates ever since. They also maintained a very thorough weekly development blog that gave the whole process a delightful amount of transparency, rather than just a vague roadmap that they were hoping to be able to follow.

Basically, provided the game is either worth purchasing in its unfinished state or there's a solid track record of transparency and continuing to update at a reasonable pace (preferably both), I don't see a problem with EA. That often doesn't happen, but you can find some real gems if you're willing to take that chance.
