Not to say that Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan aren't great, but there's other great presidents to quote. Presidents like Ulysses S. Grant, Chester A. Arthur, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, and George H. W. Bush. It's particularly important for them to link themselves to him in the era of Trump to attempt fighting the strong surge towards racism the party took with Trump. As for Reagan they have deified him for the work he did in destroying the middle class.
