I came in and worked for 2 hours, then I was told to clock out and go home after signing my last right up.

The reason I got fired was because while I was talking to a customer over a headset, this coworker would be whispering shit into my ear, asking me to say stuff that I shouldn't. It got so bad to the point that I couldn't understand what the customer was saying, so in response I shoved and pushed him away. I did it that because I didn't want to cut the customer off, and also so I could get the message across so that he would stop.

A manager saw me shove him, and brought me into the office to ask me what happened, and I explained it to her. But before that she first asked the guy I shoved what happened, he told her that I shoved him for no reason whatsoever.

So she told me she couldn't allow that to happen without consequence, so she sent me home.

And I called the store later to apologize to her, and the guy that I shoved as well. She was impressed that I called to apologize and she said that I had a lot of integrity to call and apologize.

So I came in for my shift a few days later, and I worked for 2 hours, then she and another manager called me into the office to sign my last write up before I was officially fired. But before I left, I gave both the managers hugs, and after I clocked out, I went and got another workers phone number, and while I past the office to go do it. I saw the manger who officially fired me hugging the other one with tears in her eyes.

So has anyone ever gotten fired for having a physical altercation with a coworker. If so, what happened afterwards?

Jeez wtf is up with your company, was this your first offense, you mentioned it was your last write up but were there others before, sometimes a certain number = getting fired no matter what.

Sadly if they observed you physically pushing another employee even if the other employee pushed you first, that could be enough right there to let you go. Physical attacks are often not tolerated at all.

Damn that really sucks, hope you find another job quickly and maybe you could ask the managers to give you a good reference at least still (sounds like they were sad they had to fire you).

I have had to fire people before and I HATE it, especially when it was a friend of mine I got a job at a company I was running S&H for. He kept coming in late and then he messed up a whole shipment (didn't put a part in all the kits), so I had no choice. He was totally ok with it and we were still friends afterwards, but damn I felt horrid having to do that.

I've only been "let go" once and that was after my first shift at this coffee shop back in my teens. The owner was this old woman who said she wanted to be less hands on and have someone fill that void. She however was shadowing me all shift and gave the impressions he was unable to let go. It came as no surprise the next day she said she didn't need anyone anymore. It was a waste of time but eh at least I got paid for it.

People pleasers are disgusting, why the fuck do people do this to those who just did them a disservice... stick up for yourself, dude. You just stroked their ego. Nothing else benefitted you from this action.

Thing is it's not about what you know it's about who you know. Said mangers may even help get him a job further down the line. Plus he probably wants a reference. It's best to not burn bridges and keep professional unless what said person did was really bad.

My friend spartan kicked a coworker in a big name department store and wasnt fired or anything.

As a teen I cursed out my coworker LOUDLY, all customers heard, and nothing happened except I got told to take a 15min break.

Edit: Sorry to hear you were let go. I hope you find something better soon.

When I still worked part-time. I got fired for bumping a co-worker with a cart (I couldn't see said co-worker because he was behind a door). Said co-worker was texting on his phone, and I had warned him to not stand there and text hours prior.

I was also employee of the month two months before being fired.

Got in a shoving match once, this dude wanted something (not sure what, he was deaf and only knew how to communicate through charades) and he was supposed to get fired but wasn't (nor the 1st time for that, he was supposed to be fired for drinking on the job too)

Given the circumstances, you could try suing the company for wrongful termination, but I'm not sure how much it would do given that you'd need to substantiate your claim (although the circumstances certainly support your side of the story) and it might not necessarily justify the use of force anyway.

If you file for unemployment, I imagine this is going to affect things because you were fired for cause.

It's hard to dissect a remark that stupid. Unless somebody is bound to their job -- slavery or another forced labor (like under communism) -- people can lose their jobs. And in those other systems, when they want to get rid of a worker it's usually far, far worse.

Nah never happened with me IIRC...came close a few times, but I usually just leave/quit the job if it ever gotten that bad among any 'Co-workers'.

But heard many horror stories among some of my friends (some even got arrested for fighting/punching their Bosses)

Hopefully, it's a sign that something else better will come along for you.

Well I didn't get fired but they did. She basically wanted to get workers comp so she came up with a story saying me and her argue and that I picked her and the ladder, threw her off and hit her with it. She started wearing a foot brace and bringing in crutches. I got called in to the Store managers office to witch he says that he is waiting for hr to show. Luckily I had 3 things going for me. I didn't do it, I did not report to him and could not be terminated unless my manger who was above him said so, and three I was only lot scheduled 5 overlapping shifts. She was dumb enough to pick the day I called in sick and didn't realize that security cameras exist.

Fallout was the store manager got fired when I threatened a defamation lawsuit to walmart inc, and of course the hagngot fired. Funny note was that no one beleived her except that one manager as I was regularly moved aroud the store because I asked for crosstrainin in everything to avoid getting screwed over in hours
