Marina is delightful. Ive been listening to her for *years* now.

That album is great, Buy the Stars is pretty much the official song of the worst breakup in my life. Perhaps because there was some freaking bizarre star name gaslighting involved, but even without that her music is just amazing.

This one's a little more monotone / rocky but still has good instrumental portions. I love Lacrimosa, they've got some good compositions:

I liked this one. Kind of a The Shins feel thats nice. Id definitely listen to this one again if I felt like gentle indie.

Persefone - getting real Doom soundtrack vibes from this. Is great.

This is a great song. I ended up listening to the album on the way to and from the shops.

I think of those, The ones I really enjoyed were Sleepwakers, Strangers, Clarity and particularly the Lorde remix. That seemed almost KLFs Chill Out, for some reason.

I mean its a big genre, but a lot of EDM released at the moment like Flumes stuff is a bit vanilla ice cream to me. I certainly dont hate it, and will listen to it, but its a bit bland to my taste and if theres another option available Ill go with that.
Flume has some fantastic remixes, I'm glad you enjoyed the Lorde one, it's widely regarded as his best and definitely his most popular one. Another one of his remixes that I think comes in second in both quality/popularity to the Lorde one is this one, you might like it too:

https://youtu.be/OUkkaqSNduU

And I totally get what you mean by the modern releases these days being a bit vanilla, it's funny you mention that other Flume song I posted as an example of that, because lots of people feel the same way about the newer direction he's taking with his more pop-sounding releases. I personally love some vanilla sounding stuff like that here and there just because I like the catchiness/feelsy aspect to it, but I can definitely see how one can find it bland.

If you enjoyed that Lorde remix, you'd probably like his older sound that is definitely similar to KLF's Chill Out (just listened to that, thanks for that btw I liked it a lot), give his self-titled debut album a listen whenever you get the chance. It's a bit less ambient and has more moving parts to it than Chill Out, as he adds a bit of wonkiness to his songs, but still a super chill listen (especially the second half of the album). It's in my top 5 electronic albums of all time; songs like Holdin On, Sleepless, and Insane are among my favorite electronic songs ever:

Yo I was a huge fan of all of these. Was always a fan of dubstep and I'm finally starting to get into some DNB myself nowadays. My favorite was probably the Tokyo Machine song, has almost a bass house feel to it.

Xilent and Au5 are dope, I discovered Xilent through Illenium putting this track into his filthier DJ sets (I think it was in a B2B he had with Excision): https://youtu.be/Fi0R0leU4Ag

Au5 I know through his song with Seven Lions, who's one of my favorite melodic dubstep/future bass producers (I posted his song Strangers on my earlier post): https://youtu.be/1CzO4p8ksg4

Thanks for these though bro, I'm definitely adding them to my Filth playlist on Spotify

That first one sounds very familiar. Its very good, but I dont know. I tend to feel music in textures, and a lot of the modern EDM like Flumes recent stuff feels... hollow? If that makes any sense at all. It feels like when Im listening to it, Im standing on an infinitely small wafer of something over a void, only its unintended. Part of me is like, wheres the rest of the song? Which is weird, really, because Im down with The Normals Warm Leatherette, which is basically just lyrics over a cheap drum kit and sawtooth eee onnnng and beep boops

Second one - This I can definitely get behind more than their later stuff. Its more music with a punch. I dont know, I said in my first post I reserved the right not to make sense.

Thanks. I've been on their shit for a while, Feel Good Inc. was the jumping on point like a fuckton of people but Plastic Beach is what made me a fan. I remember trying to get On Melancholy Hill to dl on a landline connection all night, and I checked out my country's all-night music video show RAGE to see what would be playing.

The On Melancholy Hill music video was the last one they aired, at 6 in the morning, and I stayed up all night to watch it because no-one else was seeding the song on LimeWire.

Honestly, their latest project Song Machine is their best stuff since Plastic Beach if you ask me. I like The Fall, and I like some songs on Humanz and The Now Now (Humility says hi), but Song Machine has been consistently good. The first and fourth ones are hit and miss, but the other three are fan-fucking-tastic Gorillaz songs

Archangel - Nice. Very James Horner.

Toska 9 - Reminds me a lot of Mick Gordons soundtrack for Doom. Great stuff.

Nier OST - I like how it starts off relatively simple and evolved. Slightly found object percussiony in parts.

Nier OST #2 - this ones not bad at all, but doesnt quite grab me

Killer Instinct OST - this ones a great blood pumper

Crypt of the Necrodancer - this is great. This is one of those games with a soundtrack I really like, but the game itself Im not a big fan of

Hotline Miami - I like how effective this is, despite that its fairly minimalistic. My cat didnt enjoy it though. He kept making old man doing a poo grunts while it was playing.

I cannot recall how many assessments I wrote to this in university. Blue Bell Knoll was always my assessment writing music for some reason, along with Bowies The Man Who Sold the World

Mick gordons sound is pretty unique yes.
