Yeah Peggy has a lot of experimental tracks. That one is a pretty good introductory track. Fair warning though if you get into his stuff hes pretty political and is intentionally inflammatory.

Yeah, I checked out some of his other stuff and it seemed a bit political. Thats all good, though. Means hes putting feeling into the music. Thanks for turning me on to his stuff!

Nice build up, kinda Tool vibes in a good way, but with more depth. This sort of metal I can really get behind - its densely textured and kinda melodic.

I can see why you like them. Cheers, I really enjoyed that. Ill give their other stuff a listen too.

TBH, with your username I was expecting something from Ween. Who are also great.
Glad you liked it. That whole album, Varahtelija, is really good if you want to check out more

Listened to Bjork's Volta just now. It's not my favorite from her by any means, but I'm in love with Innocence. It's a terrific pop song. Declare Independence and Wanderlust are both really good too.

I dont mind this, its a good song, but I must say I enjoyed the Wire and John Cale more.

I dont know, this one just sounds very tired and lugubrious (but maybe thats the whole point?)

Having left it and come back, its actually grown on me quite a bit. Id definitely listen to this one again.

Justin Furstenfeld in Blue October went through a lot of mental health issues and addiction and he lays it all out in his music - that second song is from an album where he was going through a divorce, and one of the songs is about an event he had where he was flying back home, had an episode and turned himself in to the police out of fear he was gonna kill his wife's lover (all based on real events).

He's matured and settled down more so his music became a little more lovey-dovey at times but they still have some really powerful/dark songs.

Also he's just a great guy, got to meet him after a show and he cares a lot about his fans (even if he seems a little self absorbed sometimes)

To be fair, I think a lot of really good artists are quite self absorbed. Something to do with their creative process maybe? Particularly if theyre putting a lot of themselves into the music, which from what youve said he seems to do. Ive got a few albums queued up in my to listen playlist, I had a listen here and there to their songs and Im really digging most of what Ive heard.

The more you listen to Richard Thompson, the more effortless his virtuosity feels. That said, that probably wasn't a good song as an introduction to his work or anything...I just rather liked it on that album (all of which is great, btw).

I did too, my apologies. I thought I responded last night, but Id closed the browser before it sent.

It was interesting to see an artist like her reinterpret one of her own songs - normally thats done by others (I can imagine Scott Bradlee having a cover version done like this). I think this song does highlight the both the strengths and limits of her range though - Im not sure if it was a deliberate technique, but on some of those notes she sounded very reedy, particularly at the start. Could be deliberate though, that said. I enjoyed it.

I was thinking about Unsolved Child Murder, but it can be a bit of a turn off as an intro, just for the subject matter. If youre into comics and like Britpop, check out Phonogram by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie- Luke Haines is basically referred to as a God in that.

I absolutely love Black Box Recorder! Sarah Nixeys voice and Luke Haines song writing is exquisite! That was actually going to be my next rec if you liked the Auteurs. I got into them completely by accident when I was about 20 through a Bowie cover and have loved them ever since.

Sarah Nixeys solo stuff is a bit stale (though I love her Human League cover).
