Disney has revealed its first BISEXUAL LEAD CHARACTER thanks to its animated series The Owl House!!

Following the debut of its recent episode, show creatorDana Terrace said the lead character, Luz Noceda, a Dominican-American Girl is definitely bisexual

The Owl House premiered in January around 14 y/o Luz who finds a portal to a fantasy world and attempts to fulfill her dream of becoming a witch attending school there

She was known to be attracted to male characters but recently in "Enchanging Grom Fight", she starts to explore a relationship between Luz and Amity Blight, a female student there

She tells her she has feelings for Luz and wanted to ask her to go to Grom, a prom like event and then they dance

Terrace said she had to fight Disney leadership to ensure queer kids were in the main cast as she made the episode as part of her own experience growing up when she went to Prom

She refused to backdown for her desire to represent LGBTQ characters as she is bi herself and her stubborness paid off as disney are now supportive of her work

She said "Representation matters! Always fight to make what YOU want to see!".

Would you start boycotting Disney if they added LGBTQ characters in their animated shows?

I would rather see new bi characters instead of changing existing characters so this is a good thing imo but I don't watch Disney channel stuff anymore so I won't be watching it for that reason

I hate "forced diversity" as much as the next guy, but the truth is there's nothing wrong with finally seeing an ORIGINAL character for a change.

Let's this "representation" speak for itself, instead of piggybacking 'the message' on established media meant for everyone else.

Technically Luz hasn't shown many bi tendencies yet. She had an episode where she went on a quest and admired a guy with a buff bod and blushed at a cute boy, but has only blushed at older girl who called her cute. Amity on the other hand is super into Luz.

Meh. The usual people are gonna praise Disney for whatever when they just took the safe route as always. It's much easier to do a bi/gay character if it's a girl. Especially if they younger. People generally find that far less offensive than with males. This would have been news if it was a boy.

If this were a hetero character, most people wouldn't bat an eye at her developing crushes on boys as a normal part of growing up. 14 is a reasonable age for that. That doesn't change just because she's LGBT.

This doesn't really feel like a ret-con. I don't follow Owl House but I do see online discussion, and from what I've heard Luz has been acting "probably not completely straight" pretty much from the start. The betting pool was largely split between bi or just weird.

It has a few flaws, but over all it is a very enjoyable show. There is only a few episodes left of the first season and a second season was announced, so it is a good time to get into it if it looks interesting to you.

I don't know I feel that anyone who is that worried about the sexlife of a 14 year old (thats not a famaily member worried about life reuining behavior) is like the creeps that were so exited about the olsen twins turning legal that they wouldnt have to hide the fact they been whacking it to full house for years (see robot chicken for reference)

Also I'm not against the lgbt+ inclusion I just say it ahould have the same reaction as a straight character.

Clearly you didnt read my post. I literally said that lgbt should be treated any differently. Which is pretty clearly the opposite of bigotry. Now you probably didnt mean me but your timing is off.

Also trying to grab attention for a character for a personal agenda is abysmal. It happens for the anti gay peops who act like every attack on their sense of masculinty is a terrorist tying to recruit for the queer agenda (uncle for the love of god please shut up next thanks giving) or toxic lg TV t personalities who basically treat their sexuality as a reason to make other people suffer like vegans do with meal plans. The gay older brother in Card Captor Sakura is mostly subtext (cause Japan) and entirely overshadowed by the fact that the dad fucks and marries a high school girl.

Omg young people having crushes and dating isnt sexualization, its just life, because believe it or not people start dating as young as 13. Depicting a couple in a cartoon is not sexual. It already happens in other cartoons with straight pairings, why should it matter now that theyre gay? It's not a retcon, at least as far as I know, I think you got something mistaken. I'm just saying it's good to see original minority characters instead of retconning them in existing franchises, this is the right way to bring diversity.

Well it my be more of an aggressive labeling. People want a label for everything. When they get said lael to fan it in the face of others and given that in this case they are trying ignore experimental phases kids go through they want it set in stone and non changing.

So yeah the people who are hung up on her being lgbt are perving her more than the show did. It by happend with mlp with the bonbon and hand meme pony.
