Considering I got most notable Wii u exclusives* for free (thank you club Nintendo ) I have no regrets. And usually I don't feel the 60 bucks is worth the upgrade.

*most of them are not exclusive anymore but you know what I mean

That's true, but you can say that about a lot of the exploitative business practices in the AAA gaming sphere and it doesn't make it less gross.

The Bayonetta/Vanquish bundle came out with two fully remastered games for 40 bucks. Yakuza 3-6 are 60 dollars. Persona 4 launched on Steam for TWENTY. Nintendo putting out half a decade old games for 50-60 dollars is taking quite a bit of piss.

is it really an exploitative practice if there's as much demand as there is though? the wii u bombed, and the switch is selling gangbusters, and people have been clamoring to have pretty much every wii u release ported over.

i'm not entirely sure myself, but it strikes me at the very least as much less problematic when they're clearly fulfilling demand

Super Mario 3D World and Xenoblade Chronicles X are the first to come to mind, so are the HD Zelda games though they are remakes themselves.

All I can think of after that are stuff like Nintendo Land and Star Fox Zero. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse might count since it's in a different style, but the developers seem to want to pump out new titles rather than remake old ones.

This isnt really exploitative in the way that a lot of predatory practices in the games industry are. This is just a remaster with new stuff for full price which is widely accepted by the market.

Its exploitative because capitalism is inherently exploitative.

I feel you. I've never seen a system be so thoroughly invalidated so quickly. Modding and Virtual Console aside, there's more reason to own a Virtual Boy than a Wii U in 2020.

On the other hand, Pikmin 3 is a modern classic that really deserves a wider audience, and good sales can't hurt the prospects of Pikmin 4. So I'm not that salty about this one.

(I suppose Splatoon, Mario Tennis US, Mario Party 10 are also still technically Wii U exclusives, but they were pretty much replaced by updated sequels....) Also, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U & Wii Sports Club, I guess, but no one cares about those.

Honestly, I think Xenoblade X and SM3DW are the only two left that will get ported. Maybe Paper Mario, but I think that one is now pretty doubtful unless the new Paper Mario sold great. The rest of those games relied too heavily on the game pad. Maybe Starfox is a long shot with a restructured control scheme.

I actually just played Kirby Rainbow Curse and it was short, but not bad. It absolutely should have been a 3ds game, though. You pretty much played only on the game pad, which was a little stupid and kind of a waste of the Wii U's capabilities.

I am dying for Star Fox Zero with all the shit controls fixed up.

The game was fine except for the fact that the controls constantly tried to fight whatever you were trying to do.
