I'm not as read up on the features as TC is but I did see an image of a character surrounded by food and I think one of the reward tiers allows backers to name dishes. I'll go out on a limb and say cooking will be in the game.

Nice, though it is slowing down a lot. Should at least easily clear $3 million, but is probably going to fall well short of Bloodstained.

It's now over $3 million and the 9th most funded game of all time. Latest stretch goal unlocked is "Hot Springs" which I assume will be like the Bath in every other Suikoden game.

I wonder if there will be a stretch goal for English voice acting. That'd be nice...pretty sure it's currently just going to be subtitles for every language besides Japanese.
I wonder what the funding break down is like. I'm guessing the U.S. is the biggest contributor...

Looks like the options are all variations of vampire designs, so probably this game's knock off Neclord, except if he's now a SoD, I guess joins the party at some point? Or maybe it'll be like Suikoden III where you play from the villains' perspective as a bonus at the end?

Suikoden 2 and 3 had like 112 total characters I think. You had to choose which ones you wanted.

But yeah, PS5 should be fine. It's supposed to release in late 2022, after all. And...hopefully...it'll be like most KS games and never even come close to meeting its original launch date (I want more time to resolve that Nintendo question...).

EDIT: I will say...I have full confidence the story and music will be great based on who's on the team, and the art design / graphics look promising... I would like more info on the programmers and such, who'll actually be handling the game play.

I wish we would hit the final stretch goal but doesn't look like it. I doubt it's anything good anyway. We already hit the good stuff like characters and in game systems. I'd like to hit the card game tier though.

I never played Suikoden III and after. Was it with IV and after that the series started to decline or III itself starting to show signs of that? Storywise I was interested in III. What I enjoyed most about the Suikoden series was how it felt like one big game/story even if there was minimum connection between each games.

Were doing one final AMA for the final week of the campaign, and this time were taking it to Reddit. The AMA will be hosted on r/eiyudenchronicle, and will take place on Wednesday August 26th, starting at Noon ET/9am PT. This time, all four key members of the development team will be there to answer your questions!
So if theres anything youve been burning to ask them up until now, this is your chance! Dont miss it!

Also, they added "add on" rewards (basically overpay by $X for your tier to get that item, I think?) and the card set looks pretty cool. Probably not gonna do it, but seems like a nice collector's item ($35).

Uh...like Revelation said, Suikoden V was good...arguably 2nd best in the series. And S2 was one of the most direct sequels to a game I've ever seen, w/ S3 also having many connections to the past games... Wasn't till S4 that there were only a few connections in the story.
As far as decline...arguably S4 is the only "bad" game in the main 5 (and it's really just mediocre, not bad). S3 did implement a lot of changes that many people didn't like (including me), but had plenty of high points to make up for it.

The best thing about IV was the support character with the dash rune. Seriously wish every game you could run that fucking fast.

All of them except Tactics and V.
It's really a shame. V is one of the best, and Tactics is both superior to IV and the story is directly tied to it very strongly, so it's a shame to have IV and not Tactics.

Yeah I think somebody stole my copy of V. It just disappeared one day. Had a sealed copy of Abyss that went missing too.

Stretch goals are kind of a double edged sword, the more stretch goals they hit the longer the game takes to come out assuming they will release the game and all stretch goals together.

Well you might get that wish, I have backed quite a few Kickstarter video games and not a single one hit their first release date. If they say it will come out in 2022 for instance the game instead comes out in 2023 or 2024 type of thing. Now they might pull off the release date they claim this time but the history of Kickstarter does not back that up.

One of the things that turned Star Citizen into "The Game That Will Never Actually Come Out" was that people kept throwing money at them, so they kept adding new ideas, concepts, play mechanics, and generally expanded their goal far, far beyond their ability to ever successfully produce it. At a certain point, they'd promised far more than they'd ever realistically be able to make, which forces you to hire more people, then you start running out of money and have to go back to the well...

Yeah the novel would be neat. I'm just happy we got the theater. I think that's all the Suikoden mini games now. I hope they don't add that awful tops game from IV.

Same. I've backed a few KS games and none came out on time, always at least a year delay. So I feel it's a safe bet.
If they put out backer polls like Bloodstained did about whether we care more about getting the game sooner or having it be more polished / more content, I'm voting the latter for sure just to be safe, though.

We've already seen multiple developers who went freelance on Kickstarter and crashed and burned.

There's a definite trend in general (applying to more than just video games), that the more successful a crowdfunded project is, the more it risks bloat and feature creep killing the entire project. People generally assume more money = better final project, but that isn't always the case.

Wow, it's getting a mini surge in the final day. $4.3 million now, so we're getting "The Depths" which apparently is hero mode. Sure, I guess. I don't play story driven RPGs for the challenge, but cool for those that care about that sort of thing.

Now, something that i unironically do care about that most others probably don't, as mentioned in the latest update:

Some fans of Murayama-san and Kawano-sans previous work might remember some particularly...unusual Western box art that saw the light of day in the West. Were happy to announce that after finally unlocking the last tier of the Painters Gallery in the social game, Kawano-san will be creating alternate Bad Western Cover Art" that will ship with every physical copy of the game...whether you like it or not! But as they say: "Beauty is in the eye of the backer"

Fucking yes! I don't care what anybody says, I loved the "bad fantasy art" cover Suikoden 1 had.
It was that cover sticking out so much that got me to notice Suikoden 1 in the bargain bin as I searching for a 2nd game to go with the B1, G1 sale I'd be getting Wild 9 with. I had never heard of Suikoden before, had no idea what it is. Didn't even consider myself much of an RPG fan back then.
And I saw that ridiculous cover art and was instantly intrigued.
I honestly may have never discovered the series if not for that damn cover art catching my eye.
I wasn't expecting such an easter egg, but that update note gave me a big smile!

I want the artbook kinda. But it would be an expensive tier for me due to also the addons I want.

$4.5 million dollars! Holy crap! I thought before it launched, "maybe $2 million". Then after the crazy first day, "Ok, maybe like $3 million or so..." DAMN did it do well for a supposedly "niche" JRPG!

3rd most funded video game of all time! It would've needed over $5.5 million to top Bloodstained, so that was the highest it could've really gotten and I'm super happy for it.
