I wish them all the best. They seem to be pretty upfront on the "we will get this out in 2-3 years, no Mighty no. 9 nonsense"

The no nonsense extends to the platforms.

Essentially, they're saying a shit ton of Kickstarter projects hit a huge roadblock having to port down to Switch (true, usually they're the worst versions as well) , so they're not putting it out on Switch, but will put it out on Nintendo's next console.

i think i got up to right before the final dungeon in suikoden 1 a few years ago, but no further. now i no longer have a PS3 and have never owned a vita :/

That's a bit worrying honestly. I mean it's going to hit the stretch goal regardless, but in what universe is the castle not an inherent part of a Suikoden revival from the get-go? That shouldn't be a stretch goal (neither should most things, stretch goals are failed to be delivered on constantly).

Also releasing a Kickstarter project on the day the website stops working is super bad luck. The first 24 hours are the most important.

It is a pretty significant expansion in scope though, I'd say it warrants it. And I dunno, their KS page made it sound like they plan to avoid common KS pitfalls. I hope so.

They didn't outright say they won't put it on Switch. They say if there's no successor out or on the horizon, they'll still try to do a Switch version, but they're giving themselves the wiggle room to just issue refunds if it proves too cumbersome.

I'm very curious what the stretch goals past $1.5m are. Plan to put up a $40 backing on this one; it's the first Kickstarter I'll have supported since Pillars.

Tempted to go for the digital version, especially since it mentions all unlocked dlc will be free for backers. I know my sister is excited for this game, as she's a huge suikoden fan. I greatly enjoyed the games too, and this looks really quite nice. especially that boss fight. I know full well the dangers of backing things on kickstarter, but I can't help but feel optimistic about this one.

It looks like the goal involves a more dynamic/customizable castle town.

I'm pretty sure the bare bones ideal would still have a castle (though we'll never know now)

A new obscured stretch goal for $1.7 mil says Building Bonds something something. Sounds like Fire Emblem-esque Supports? Was that in past games? I've only player Tierkreis and don't remember that being a thing in it.

Other new stretch goals before then are just extra sound effects and Chinese localization.

It's already at 1.4 million. For comparison, Bloodstained got 1 million on its first day on kickstarter and ended at 5 million. I doubt Eiyuden has pledges-over-time as strong as that, but 3 million is a near-guarantee and 4 million is doable.

Well that's a relief to see. So often I see New Game + is just restart the game with everything you have and there's no real change otherwise. With there being a harder difficulty I know I will try it.

That cafeteria idea is the best kind of nuts honestly... I've always felt that the JRPGs I've played have been missing a cafeteria tycoon game in them... But I'm not complaining, I can pretty much guarantee that I'll be wasting many hours growing my cafeteria franchise.

Got my husband to back this. Slowly getting him to play Suikoden 5. (He played most of 2)

My unpopular Suikoden Opinion is that I liked Suikoden Tactics. One of my favorite tactical RPG's.

Then I thought of Suikoden 3 houses with Edelgard as Chris, Claude as Hugo and Dimitri as Geddoe. (Honestly, I thought 3 houses was going to be a lot like Suikoden 3 when I first heard of the game)

I don't often replay JRPG's, even if I really like them. If I was going to though, I wouldn't want it to be super easy by being vastly overpowered at the start. If you want to just be able to cruise through the game quickly that's fine, but I'm not interested in doing that.
