Kamala Harris made a final pitch for $2,000 a month second stimulus checks before Congress debates the new stimulus package next week. Harris, along with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) introduced the Monthly Economic Crisis Support Act, which would:

• Give up to $2,000 a month to anyone earning up to $120,000 per year.
• The monthly payment begins to phase out starting at $100,000 per year.
• Married couples who file jointly would receive up to $4,000.
• You can receive $2,000 for each dependent (maximum three dependents).
• The legislation would be retroactive to March 2020.
• Every U.S. resident can receive payment, regardless if they file taxes or have a Social Security number.
• The payments would last until three months after the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.

So it's ok if the military, police, and corporations horde all the funds while we get bits of scraps? Why do we need some grand justification for the taxpayer to be taken care of but not these other entities? It's bullshit

yeah, this will never happen sadly

people would be even *less* likely to want to work, especially if it's retroactive

me personally i'd still try to find the work i want but use the extra money to pay off credit & do some certification studying

The stimulus is separate from unemployment benefits though. So it probably depends on the job a person can get. I think if someone can get a job that pays above the unemployment benefit and lets them work from home they'd take it.

Real talk the government is going go have to do something when this Pandemic is over and if people don't realize that they're pretty stupid.

The government has required some people to not work for almost 5 months now. People who were unable to get their unemployment benefits or whose unemployment just wasn't enough money, they're going to be like 10,000+ in debt from stacked up rent/mortgage, utility, and other bills.
