I have no idea on what the game is like now. I got the notification for pre-download yesterday and I'm just starting it up now.

I was playing last night. I used my free summon to get Repede!

i wish that all characters at least had their mystic arte and not just SSR characters. Makes it feel way unbalanced.

What kind of game is it?

It's has a gacha if that's what you mean. From the tutorial battle it seems to play like a turn based RPG with 3D graphics.

It does at least let you straight up pick any character you want upon starting. If you want to reroll to get multiple SSRs though it seems you would want to use an emulator as although the roll is at the very beginning, you have to clear data to reroll which you can bypass on an emulator.

I'm rerolling for multiple SSRs before starting so can't really give more info other than that right now.

Just downloaded and only went through the tutorial, but the presentation is really clean and appealing. Plus getting to just straight up choose your first unit from the entire pool is really nice.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering this myself. I only had the game running for 10 minutes or so, but it definitely seemed like something that might make my phone run hot, even though it was fine for the time I played. I'm on an iPhone 8, so I'll see if it becomes an issue as mess around a bit more.

Gave this a try just to see what I'd get from the free summons, and after picking Velvet from the guaranteed summon, I then got 3 other SSRs from the 23 other summons (Ludger, Stahn and Leon). Probably not who I'd pick given the choice, but based off of rates alone that feels like such a highroll I feel obligated to at least play it out.

I'm not sure. I'm trying to find out. It could be irrelevant as I made that roll on my first attempt on an emulator reroll and the emulator crashes when I attempt to bind via Bandai Namco ID anyway. I could theoretically try bind via my Google Play Account which shouldn't have the screen that causes the crash but since that would bind it to my main Play Account, I'm refraining for now.

Hmm, got a start with Stahn and Sorey, plus Velvet as my chosen unit. They all seem pretty good, so I might stick with that.

Well was able to finally link it but took some workarounds. So now I can actually try to reroll for better. Probably give it a few tries and then take it

Was getting all ready to reroll for the first time ever when doing a gacha. Only to get 6 fucking SSRs my first try including the freebie (Velvet) . Not only that, but I got the other SSR I wanted most (Rita) and the SR I wanted most (Magilou).

Does any other gacha have a drop rate this high for it's highest rarity (5%...not that you could tell from first pull, jesus)

Valkyrie Connect has a 20% rate for their highest rarity but that doesn't really count because they purposedly clutter their drop pool with absolute shit which appears on every banner mixed in with the banner items. Then banner items have drop rates varying from like 0.05% to 0.25% with off banner items being literally worthless.

Ah, I found the monkey's paw. Literally every single character I summoned was green or blue <_<

I know Tales games deal with some heavy stuff but the story takes an insanely dark turn early on.

There is a bit of relief in that I got 2 of my highest priority SSRs, so now I can wait for SSR versions of the characters that don't have one yet. Luke is the only SSR I REALLY want but don't have, but I can hold off.

I've been following this game somewhat, so I'll probably be starting it later today. Thinking about picking Cress since I always have a thing for Phantasia.

Look at it this way, this is pretty much what Japan has to deal with for their gacha games.

You pretty much save up for favorites or anticipated specials (limiteds, seasonals, anniversaries, end of month, etc..), or just roll whenever you feel like it.

My approach for gacha games has always been to just accept whatever luck comes my way.

Yeah, I think it's better when you can't plan ahead. It's when people can plan ahead that the meta gets more cancerous because that's what a lot of people do. Whereas if you can't plan ahead, you get less overall accounts using the preferred meta and theoretically a more diverse meta. Plus you don't get Japanese accounts hopping over to global to dominate.

I was going to say it probably widens the gap between normal players and whales but even that might not be true. Sometimes it takes time to discover something is meta defining so only the whales who pull for everything will truly get the advantage.

Oh and yes dupes are for improving Memoria Crystals. How vital they are, I don't know. Given that I wanted to absolutely use Velvet, pulling Velvet dupes may not have been the worst thing for me. Depends on if they give a universal item to improve them or if you have to solely rely on dupes.

Probably going to do 5-10 rerolls and if I get nothing better, stick with it.

Account 2 - Velvet / Lloyd / Sorey / Kanonno / Leon / Aegis (Added bonus SR Magilou!)

I'm assuming the second account is better by a landslide unless I want a super Velvet (which I may). Actually, I can give whichever account I don't use to the missus so she doesn't have to reroll.

Yeah I'm not sure how the dupe stuff works yet. Is it better to just yeet your memoria stone into the character you drew immediately? I have no idea.

No clue. Seems that any questions about dupes on the reddit go unanswered which I guess is to be expected with the little info we have. I'm guessing the people who beta tested didn't get to that point.

Will note that people seem to be leaning towards Velvet being the best character right now, but it's only been a day so who knows. They haven't even finished an initial testing if every SSR yet (Rita is a complete mystery as of now)

It's very early, but I'm definitely finding myself more interested after playing for an hour or so. I think the story is actually fairly interesting so far, which is more than I can say for almost any gacha game I've played.

How's the energy/stamina system? Certain number of levels you can do in an hour or unlimited? I've noticed a lot of modern gacha games ditch energy completely.

It's a regular old energy system here. So far I've been able to "go infinite" doing the story, as is usually the case with these. Haven't hit a stamina well yet.
