I am half Moroccon which this man is speaking the native language of, and half white... but I have been pale for many years. I have gotten really dark lately.

The flag of my people is an emerald Tetragram on a red field.

Mutts are healthier than purebreds, so you got that going for you.

Given that whites who arrived in the US were systematically deprived of their culture -- forcing students to speak English, having all (or most) government documents in English (whereas now accommodation is made), the demonization of the concept of dual-loyalties and hyphenated-Americans -- it's understandable that many wouldn't know much about their roots even before you get into the fact that the more generations a family has lived in a heterogenous society, the more likely they are to have mixed ancestry. The topic talks about somebody who's half-Morrocan and half-white. Well, that white "half" might represent five or six different ethnic backgrounds.

However, it's not a universal trend because you have ethnocentric communities as well. So some whites are close to being purely Italian, purely Greek, etc, at which point they're more likely to also maintain more of their ethnic background, including knowing their ancestral native language and speaking it within their community.

The stereotype that whites don't know their ethnic background is as racist as applying it to any other group, since -- just like those other groups -- clearly some individuals do while others don't. And typically the fewer the generations since they immigrated, the more likely they are to have a strong connection to their ethnic roots.

All of my relatives arrived here within 4 generations pretty much. My mothers side of the family is pure Italian, with my great grandfather coming over (and great grandmother).

My fathers (he whom I do not know), was about 50% English (From Kirkham england) and 25% Irish, along with a bunch of stuff from all over europe (german etc). He was born in England and came over here (I might actually be able to get english citizenship in theory).

I'm a pretty extreme mix of backgrounds so I never really saw the point. I like learning, I just don't care if what I learn has anything to do with my ancestry.

My dad figured out our genealogy far enough back to find our first non-Dutch ancestor. I can quite accurately say my ethnic background is 99+% Dutch. (By which I mean all those ancestors were born and raised here, genetics being a lottery, my actual genes could be whatever)
