from what I understand, it takes place in this dystopic future where three of the turtles are dead, and no one yet knows who the surviving turtle is, since he seems to use all of their weapons.

I think the 2012 series did a dark story like that, too a post apocalyptic bomb turned New York into a dessert Raph became old man Logan, Mikey became a cult leader, Donny had to have his brain uploaded into a robot version of him to stay alive and Leo turned into a gorilla or something and lost his mind
