Update on my RE0 playthrough and I just had my first ragequit moment. I'm at the treatment plant or whatever and I just beat the Tyrant twice. Luckily there was a save room before the 2nd tyrant fight and I had the wherewithal to save. Wasn't a hard fight except even when your partner is set to Attack, they never fucking shoot anything unless the enemy is right on you.

But anyways, that isn't the problem, I managed to get through that fight fine especially since there are plenty of healing items around this area. The rage quit moment came when I was exploring around. I got to this bridge area and so I go down the ladder. I walk across the bridge, and this fucking giant frog jumps onto it as I walk past it. Well I'm close to the ladder on the other side with a door, so I'm like "shit idk what to do here, ill just go through this door to escape the danger and figure it out.

Well this motherfucker, from all the way across the goddamn bridge, lashes his tongue at me and grabs my ankle, and then pulls me in and fucking eats me. Game Overs me on the spot. I WAS AT FULL FUCKING HEALTH.

That is bullshit man, I've dealt with tough enemies in this series before, and enemies that do a lot of damage and I've dies a bunch. They were all mostly fair deaths imo but this is the first time I've really called foul.

Now I gotta fight that tyrant again and explore all those areas again. *sigh*

I mean this entire series hasn't really been much of a pain in the ass. The first RE took me a minute to get used to but once you understand the mechanics and the object of the game and what kind of enemies you're up against, etc, it hasnt been anything unfair. Some fun fights, some intense and frantic moments. Its been fun.

Just that moment came out of nowhere and there was no inclination that it would 1 hit kill you at full health because it just leaped onto the bridge and looked like a normal enemy that you can just run around (which are plenty in this game/series) so it was definitely a wtf gaming moment. I just got passed the fucker because I was ready to blast his ass the next time around.

Now im on to trying to beat this game because this feels like the end setting of a RE game.

Well Leech Hunter and Wesker mode unlocked. May give those a whirl, especially wesker sounds interesting. As much as I've heard people like him and seeing him in character battles on this site, so far I barely know anything about the guy and he's had very little airtime. And that's 5 games talking here lol.

Those frogs are notorious for just ruining a first time player's run. Once you know how dangerous they are, it's not so bad.

Yeah, that's the issue most have with it. It does such a poor job of leading into Resident Evil. Keep in mind that this was developed and intended to be released on the N64 so they had plenty of time to make it lead in. It also means they could have changed Rebecca's character somewhat in the remake as they knew about 0's story.

Honestly, it depends on how much you like the game. When it first came out, I played Leech Hunter and remember enjoying it mostly. By the time it was finished, I was ready to be done with it. I haven't touched the game since nor have I had the desire to. That was back in 2003.

I've only watched bits and pieces of 5 and 6 as I started to fall out of gaming by then. I did see someone play through most, if not all, of 5 and it seemed ok. Like 4 but not as good although it finally tries to tie up some story lines. From what I saw of 6, it was dumb in an action movie sort of way. I did play through 7 recently with a friend and loved it. I would love to try it in VR, but even without it it's a return to roots.

It all comes down to what you're wanting. Still craving old school Resident Evil? Give Leech Hunter a shot. Ready for the more action entries similar to 4? Move on to 5.

And honestly of 0-4, 0 was my least favorite. Though there were things to like about it, they had a good concept of the tag team stuff and being able to control the other characters movements with the right stick was cool. Was especially helpful during some boss battles when the AI likes to just sit there and not shoot.

As far as the no item boxes thing, I'd have rathered they just do the "item boxes don't link" thing and put item boxes in the save rooms. Throwing items on the ground made it pretty frustrating because the prompts to pick stuff up didn't seem to register well and I'd often examine something on the wall or open a door instead of picking them up, or pick up the wrong item. Overall it wasn't a bad game, but the payoff for beating the game was completely flat. It just suddenly ended and it prompted more questions about the story than it answer (did it really answer anything? Seeing Burkin and Wesker work together and take over for Marcus was was about the only takeaway)

I had a lengthy response laid out, but it all comes down to me agreeing with you. 0 is my least favorite out of the main entries. Bringing in Marcus and the Progenitor Virus is adding the mythos, but nothing to get excited about. The lead-in to the first game is lousy. It did finally end the mystery as to who Dewey was, the STARS member who bites it early. Years of theories led to him being a total throw away. Everything you said about the game play is spot on. It just isn't fun to play, looks dull and isn't entertaining storywise.

Oh wait, you haven't played Code Veronica yet? It's more or less a main entry in the series, but there were some issues with Sony at the time which is why it isn't called Resident Evil 3 or 4 even though it should have been. That's where Wesker returns to the series and it really should be played before 5. Heck, if you were confused as to why Wesker is even in 4 after what happened to him at the end of the first game, this will help answer it.

Outbreaks just aren't fun in single player and it's debatable about what in the entries are canon. Revelations offer stories with characters that seem to get overlooked in the main entries and, from what I can tell, are enjoyable. Chronicles are short rail shooter summaries of the games. Your mileage will vary on those. Dead Aim was alright when it came out, but it's not needed as it adds little / nothing to the overall story. Survivor is just terrible.

I would go with Code Veronica next, especially if you're wanting to tackle 5. Then hit up 5, 6, 7. Still interested in the series at that point? Hit up the Revelations games.

I'm sure it does. I learned back around 2013 that I need a way to physically take out aggression because I punched a hole clean in my apartment wall for shit that I was pissed off out. That never turns out well in the end because at the end of the day you're the one that punched the hole so you can't tell anyone to pay for it "because I was mad at you".

Make sure it isn't the kind of punching bag that falls down easily because i went through one of those quick. >_> not only that but they never got back up quick enough for the pace I wanted to punch most of the time.

I had a good friend who had an older brother that came home one day (he lived in another state) and while he was here he went in the attic and took his entire glass bottle collection and laid it out in his shooting range, and instead of shooting the bottles he took a baseball bat and turned to us and said "this is how you take out aggression" and he went fucking ham on every bottle he had. Will never forget that scene lol

The Ada / Wesker relationship doesn't really come to light until 4 so you're good there. But Wesker's return to the series happens in Code Veronica and also explores his hatred of Chris Redfield which becomes part of the story in 5. Yeah, definitely Code Veronica next however you have to go about it.

Love that show! I usually try and catch an episode before work if I can. Garner is just so likable in it. Plus, it's got Tom Atkins in a supporting role every now and then. And Gretchen Corbett (Beth Davenport) was a babe. Sexy and knew how to use Rockford.

Best episode is when Louis Gossett, Jr. and Isaac Hayes team up in what feels like a pilot episode for their own show.

Lol. Yeah im glad angel and dennis are basically around from day one / their debut (in angels case it wasnt ep 1 im on ep 4on my current binge and he hasnt popped up yet).

I love the answering machine shtick at the intro of every ep too. Glad to see it had basically started day one. Iirc its eventually just a repeat of some variation on you owe money or i dont have your money but even ep 1 had that bit and some cop saying jim was expected to give dennis 5 bucks for policemans ball tickets.
