Yeah, with strict guidelines set in place and cleaning procedures and all kinds of prevention set in place.

Also, I looked at five articles now under a basic google search straight down the line that all say masks make breathing harder, but not dangerously so. Somehow none of them are saying it's a fabrication of the mind. But I can't be fucked to bother keep looking for actual science denier red13n's "studies".

Again, changes in oxygen levels with a cloth mask on have been shown repeatedly to be 1% or less. It will feel different but there is no inhibition of oxygen.

Going to the gym right now is dumb af anyway even with all the precautions they provide.

Better off getting some home gym shit and doing it at home for the foreseeable future. Less risk to your health and yeah it costs more but if you catch the rona at the gym, who would be paying more then?

They aren't living in peace. They are living in a world where our hospital capacity around the country is being reduced daily.

I don't fear anything, I just want to be able to safely open the country without sacrificing a portion of the population. People not taking this seriously is literally making this take longer and preventing us from living the lives we'd like to live. Wearing a mask is a simple unobtrusive solution to fixing this problem.

That was true for most of my adult life(Not childhood, i had to stay in at least good enough shape to play baseball back then), then about 8 years ago I got my dog. My dog is active as fuck. The only way to get him to sleep at night was to run him for several miles every day.

Our literal every day begins going to the park and running 3 miles. Been doing it mask on recently just to set an example for others because I realized people like Corrik are too ignorant to realize when they should and shouldn't wear a mask and would take me not wearing a mask at a very open park to mean they don't have to wear it elsewhere.

It's always cute when red tries lecturing people who literally and physically do this for a living. You are so laughably wrong, yet laughably smug, and it's why people like Seph and I just dismiss you as a joke. You have quite the attitude problem for someone who is legitimately factually incorrect on such a regular occurrence.

https://www.insidehook.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Coronavirus_mask.jpg

This mask does literally nothing for coronavirus. Nothing. I say this as someone who works in a research lab where we currently have live coronavirus inside of mice. We take human lung tissue from cadavers, bilaterally surgically implant them into mice dorsal to the scapulae (they look like they have shoulder pads, it's actually pretty cute), and then we inject them with live corona for various tests that happen afterwards.

If I wore that useless little thing I just linked to into the biosafety level 4 facility at work where we currently have live coronavirus inside of mice, I would get fired on the spot with no questions asked. But you go on pretending you know what you're talking about, red. It's quality entertainment.

The point of a cloth mask is to reduce the velocity of droplets that the virus travels on. Of course it's not as effective as an N95. But the general public also isn't supposed to be hanging out with coronavirus patients or live samples of the virus.

Cloth masks work for the general public assuming social distancing because the exposure time is lower and there's thus less chance of a significant viral load.

Cool man. Now that we have done the dance of "you dont know science" and "you dont exercise" we can that out of the way and go back to the original point that is that that certain aspects of working out, with the ones i specifically listed being high intensity squatting/deadlifting. These lifts when done at a high level will be pushing your CNS to the brink in ways that running will not. Its not a good idea in the slightest to do an RPE 9 or 10 squat or deadlift with a mask. Id say for you to try it so you could see, but id be setting you up for something dangerous so i wont

Can you run with a mask? Sure. Can you do a lot of lifts with a mask? Sure. All i was saying was that there are specific ones where its a horrible idea and since i do those i would not be going to the gym if i was required to wear a mask, which i wear 100% of all other places.

People have discussed going to the gym with a tremendous amount of protocols in place to ensure passing off the disease is nearly impossible.

And WHO says that exercising is perfectly fine with social distancing in place, and they recommend it over exercise with a mask.

So what's your problem?

Some gyms can provide for safe environments. Some cant. Mine does. So i go. Suck a nut.

No, his gym just implemented this. He'd already gone a few times without a mask.

And on those days, nobody was near anyone else. The gym was extremely sparsely populated and we all kept out distance from one another. We might as well not even have been in the same room. By this argument, I shouldn't be able to be in my house because my neighbors are on the other side of the wall. The closest I came to anyone was when I went to the paper towel dispensers to wipe things down.

I don't disagree with you in general. I think it's ridiculous that we can't get the virus under control. I will wear a mask literally anywhere else, had been remaining at home except when necessary (beyond using a running trail near my house,) and was extremely annoyed at my sister for hosting a 4th of July party with like 20 people there. When the gym opened last week, I was willing to make a slight exception for the sake of my mental health and well-being. My depression kept me on the couch for the last three days, and all I wanted when I woke up this morning was to go the gym, get a good workout, and wash all of that away. Home workouts are not at all the same thing for me.

Notice how he ignores my post, because it shreds his BS.

The 6 foot rule doesn't really work as well as we'd like it to. The virus can live for a few hours as aerosol droplets, and all aerosol can travel more than 6 feet. I'll let MIT handle that one, and here is a very good article from USA Today on this subject.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/03/30/coronavirus-social-distancing-mit-researcher-lydia-bourouiba-27-feet/5091526002/

This doesn't contradict anything I said. In fact, it reinforces it.

From your own source:

The biggest threat we think with the coronavirus is actually the larger droplets. Droplets of saliva, snot, spit. Droplets that almost look like rain, if you will, when someone sneezes. Those droplets are large enough that gravity still acts on them. Usually, within about six feet of leaving somebodys body, those larger, more infectious droplets will drop to the ground. Thats where the six-foot rule comes from.

The point of cloth masks is to reduce the velocity of droplets (specifically larger droplets) so that exposure is minimized and people don't receive a significant viral load as commonly as they otherwise would.

And no, 6 feet is not a magic barrier, nor is a cloth mask. The point is to mitigate the risk, even though they don't eliminate it entirely. It's not possible for the entire populace to wear N95 masks.

Indoors out of household - wear a fucking mask.

Outdoors - Keep your distance, wear a mask if close or conversing.
