It consolidates all the other studies and has several experts chiming in and also explaining several things like how contact tracing is difficult. Also the problem with contact tracing in the very community that's protesting.
On here, everybody seems definitive in their opinion one way or the other. Some of you are starting to sound like DeSantis in April. "Nothing points to us becoming the next Italy or NYC" *2 months later* If you look at Florida and Texas, they started reopening by the end of April into May. Major spikes started 2 weeks ago. The virus arrived in NYC in January. It didn't started getting out of control till April. There's a lag and I suspect it retuning to NY eventually. It has already been upgraded back to yellow from green since yesterday. It'll take a few months to have better data. So arguments for protests spiking case numbers are as follows: Its common knowledge that we don't know shit about the virus and that 14 day incubation period might have been true then but who says its true now? We don't know. There are links out there that say that the virus is weaker as far as damage done but spreads more rapidly and if thats the case. The info that we had before is null and void because it changed somehow. Let this topic be a reminder that many of the conservatives and centrists posting here don't care about facts, science, logic, or reason at all. They are nothing more than convenient tools to use against strawman versions of liberals and leftists. The strategy of appealing to science is about making their opponents look unreasonable, it has nothing to do with the facts. As soon as all actual evidence goes against them, they'll switch to making unfalsifiable claims about scientists lying, being biased, scared, or being lied to by others. And if that doesn't work, they'll fall back to "common sense" and "it's just gotta be true." And when that doesn't work, they'll just fall back to saying you're biased or say that you believe the disease magically doesn't affect those with the right political views.
The actual evidence supports the idea that if you're outside, with high mask usage, the virus doesn't spread easily. It basically has a hard time spreading outside in general. The super spreader events we've seen have almost all been from indoor locations like bars, conferences, and work places. And this applies regardless of the reason people are outside. There haven't been super spreading events from the beach pictures everyone (including me) freaked out about. There haven't been events from the pool pictures that I crapped all over people for attending. And there haven't even been super spreading events that I'm aware of from the anti-mask/shutdown protests and I think those are the stupidest, most counterproductive things I've ever seen. So if I can admit what's going on here, why can't all of you? --- I gotta be righteous, I gotta be me, I gotta be conscious, I gotta be free, I gotta be able, I gotta attack, I gotta be stable, I gotta be black. ...
