Economic is the only real way to win - the problem is, the Chinese government would take it out on their people, who are essentially victims in this as well.

That's the thing, though. China isn't a tiny isolated country like the DPRK and won't be able to get away with terrorizing their own citizens the same way. They have enormous borders beside India (and neighboring countries) / Russia that they cannot secure due to size alone. If they start bringing back shit like Massacres of protestors the people there have ways of getting help.

Trump's position on China isn't all that straightforward. I wouldn't say he opposes China with any conviction, he just occasionally takes anti-Chinese positions and uses anti-Chinese rhetoric as a way to fire up his largely xenophobic supporters. People who really don't give a shit about human rights or the plights of Muslims.

Trump personally asked Xi Jinping for help winning the upcoming election and describes him as a good leader.

Is there any chance Biden would actually do something on this? What would he do? Could there be an international law response to this? It seems like the most powerful countries manage to just bully their way out of accountability there, sadly pioneered and perfected by the US. If any core member of the CCP has foreign bank accounts, we could at least freeze those, right? We could pull out of non-essential industries, but then they'd retaliate by withholding essential things from us, and if we responded, then that's sanctions, mass starvation etc.

I don't know what the solution is, but we seriously can't sit by and watch an old school genocide happen, right? That's exactly what's happening though.
