If the mere presence of homeless people in the world around you gives you violent urges, you should probably get yourself checked out and treated before your dangerous mental illness hurts somebody.

Before you and I get into this, understand that I'm not un-sympathetic to the homeless or addicted. If there are ways to help these people, of course help them.

.....but when push comes to shove?....all bets are off with me and those in my neighbourhood.

So if I were you, check yourself on labeling others with "violent urges", because you don't know what you're talking about.

How is throwing a firecracker at someone who isn't acting aggressive in any way, shape, or form defending your children? It seems like you'd use your children as a shield in order to act like a piece of shit to others.

If you can actually come up with a situation in which throwing firecrackers at somebody would be an effective means of defending your children, I'll accept that as an exception, but I should point out that self-defense isn't particularly relevant to the discussion at hand. Furthermore, you'll notice I specified liking the idea of throwing firecrackers at people, which is a very distinct concept from being willing to throw firecrackers at people when it becomes necessary to do so. Therein lies the line between self-defense and psychopathy.

If you like the idea of throwing firecrackers at people, I have no qualms about calling you a psychopath (except those stemming from the facts that "psychopath" is an archaic term that real psychologists don't use anymore and that antisocial PD is not the only potential psychopathology that can explain such behaviour). That is correct. There is no bigger picture than that. Again, there's a very important distinction between liking violence (especially unprovoked) and being willing to exercise it when necessary.

Yes, many regions have a very serious problem with homeless people's behaviour that is not adequately addressed by local authorities. That's bad, and being upset by that is perfectly fine. Taking that anger and using it to justify assaulting random people, however, is not, nor will it ever be. If you want to do something productive with that anger, get political and start pushing for the policy, infrastructure, and cultural reforms that are necessary to fix the problem. If you don't want to do something productive with your anger, learn to manage it and move on with your life before you hurt someone. These are the only options available to anyone that wants to call themselves a decent person.

If that happens, then that homeless person would deserve whatever he's got coming to him, but in this instance the homeless man didn't do anything to anyone, they did it just because they wanted to.

If you use one instance to insight violence against another who has done no harm then use your child as an excuse for your actions that day, then yes, I have to still say you're using your child to justify wrongful actions.

No matter what walk of life you look at, whether someone is homeless, rich, poor, fat, thin, white, black, whatever there's always going to be someone among that group that will act like scum, not everyone deserves to be tarred with the same brush. It doesn't give anyone the right to target someone who hasn't done a thing wrong and assault them.

"Don't set people on fire" is a given. Further, the initial post's tweet's video didn't work when I first tried it. It's also more than a *little* suspicious that you just bring up that the firecracker victim was black when the perpetrators of that attack were also black. Why would you do that, I wonder?
