I don't think Twitter ever editorialized content on it until like the last couple weeks. Since it didn't happen at any times covered by this lawsuit, that debate lies in the future. Imagine the following posts:

Devin Nunes' Dog: Devin Nunes is great! Vote for him! [Twitter Factcheck: Devin Nunes does not own a dog.]

Devin Nunes' Cow: Devin Nunes is awful! Don't vote for him [No Twitter Factcheck]

Then I think we might get somewhere with the 230 argument.

Honestly, the only instance of suppression I think should be corrected in the case of Kentucky is...why the fuck are you closing your polling stations at 6 PM? There are people with 9 to 5 jobs, so that's cutting things EXTREMELY close. Polling places in Connecticut are open until 8 PM, which is far more reasonable to give plenty of time to people who have work and can't necessarily take it off, even though they're legally allowed to.
So go before work. Go during the 4 hours they let you leave work to go vote. Go during one of the ten days it is open that you are off on. Like... Lol.

There is no convincing people in these topics of anything. Every person hanging from a tree was automatically lynched. Every noose in a park or a garage is automatically a hate crime. Anyone failing to vote is voter suppression. Anyone who doesn't agree on something regarding identity politics is a racist or a bigot. We get that.

Who is trying to convince you?

I pointed out 3 ways to vote for a 9 to 5 worker. You chose exactly 1 to acknowledge when trying to combat it.

So 5 to 6 is to short a range to vote reliably. Okay. Why not go at 6 am? 6am to 9am is a bigger range yes?

Why not go a day you are off, and if not off, a day earlier in the ten days which is less likely to be crowded?

Why not ask work to leave to go vote if you cannot somehow manage to vote?

I am not entirely sure what percentage of jobs are actually 9-5 anymore anyways, but the fact remains that the people in this scenario had opportunity to vote.

That said, what happened the previous 9 days? Was there no turning away people at 6pm? Was there no line to turn away people? Etc.

What is your argument for why polls ending at 6pm is a good thing? Because there are plenty of reasons it's not, but if you're defending it so hard, then you must have reasons?

It's there set time. Why is 7pm a good thing?

Half the state of Kentucky is 6pm and half 7pm (EST) due to time zones. 85% of Indiana is 6pm and 15% 7pm (EST) due to time zones. So you could argue some get an extra hour from work to vote and some may lose an hour but make the gap before work even wider.

I never said 6pm is a particularly good thing. But you have failed to argue 6pm is a particularly bad thing. If 6pm is bad because 7pm areas exist then. 7pm is bad because 8pm exists. Then 8pm is bad cuz 9pm exists.

Hawaii, Indiana, and Kentucky are 6pm. Yet to hear voter suppression arguments on blue Hawaii due to their time.

People rushed the last day at the end. Simple as that. They tried something different due to the Coronavirus. If you have a qualm with it, you likely have a qualm with the Coronavirus related ideas.

The nefarious voter suppression hardly seems to have been cause here. This is where how I point out when you try to lump everything under a rallying crime (racism, suppression, police brutality, etc) when it doesn't fit that you lessen your message.

Not that it particularly matters. The point is. You automatically assume the message you want to harp. Smollett exposed this. The details don't matter worth shit to many of you. Just the message you want to push.

The difference is that there is a notable history of lynching. There isn't notable history of suicide via tree. Thus, one seems much more likely than the other.

How often do people commit suicide by hanging from a tree?

Its unreasonable to not even consider lynching when something like this, with the history it has, happens so infrequently.

There is a notable history of suicides from trees... There is not a notable history of lynching African-Americans from trees in over 30 years.

You are comparing a different time to today to support the narrative. Though more recent, it would be just as silly as me comparing to 500 BC or some shit on something today.

That one young girl a few years back Facebook lived her suicide from a tree. It was a very disgusting video to say the least.

https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Death-of-man-filmed-hanging-from-tree-officially-13444505.php

Suicide by hanging is the most popular form of suicide in the world and the second most popular in the US after firearms.

The whole point is that lynching has a very notable history in the US, and it's connected to symbolism that people are now loudly and proudly promoting today, vs. people committing suicide via tree is something that... Occasionally happens and has no symbolism attached to it? It's not weird at all to see somebody, especially a black man, hanging from a tree, and think lynching is probable.

I mean, yeah, the Northeast has a ton of very dense cities and got cases earlier and were too slow to shut down. They have since gotten things under control. Other areas had longer to prepare, and the benefit of new knowledge about how to stop the virus (e.g. that masks appear to be quite helpful), and cases are going up regardless. Things may ultimately not end up as bad in places like AZ, TX, and FL because people are taking things seriously enough that R isn't a ton above 1, so once they realize they've fucked up and implement new measures the remaining couple of weeks of new cases/deaths that are baked in won't be as bad, but there's much less of an excuse.
