The show is only the prequel to the series so far, and yeah there are a lot of unanswered questions at this point. I think it did a great job of getting me into the source material, and the source material is now making me very excited for further adaptation.

In the case of Anaak I think it's more that she herself doesn't have her own motivations that well sorted out

That is pretty much how I feel about the Webtoon as a whole, having read most of what's out so far. The first arc is probably only mid-tier or so, but at the same time it's not like the later arcs are going to blow your mind in comparison to the beginning or anything.

That was a blast. Such a bombastic show, the animation and art direction are top notch, and the characters are so fun.

Only worry is if it can actually maintain the feel of this first episode within the actual structure of the show.

Deca-Dence is like Listeners if it was actual cool as fuck instead of just wishing it was cool as fuck. What a premier, firing in all cylinders. The 3D maneuver gear by way of Mad Max is something else, too.

I haven't watched it yet, but I've read the books up to the end of that arc. The weird thing is that S1 adapts up until maybe 80% of the way through book 9 and then just ends. I guess they wanted a more conclusive ending? I really liked the ending of book 9 though, so it's a bit of an odd choice.

Realistically though yeah, there was the implication that they weren't sure they were gonna get a second season at the end of the first, so would have been wierd to stop anywhere else.

Wave, Listen to Me beated. Bad show. All the radio stuff was really lame, and the Mitsuo stuff was all lame too. The show was generally better when it was exploring the stuff with Minare and the curry restaurant, but that wasn't really the focus.

That makes three Hiroaki Samura series I dislike now. Bradherley's Coach was a super weird child sex slavery series, Blade of the Immortal was so depressing I dropped it, and now this was just lame. Blech.

After seeing it be praised almost a year ago when it aired, I added Kanata no Astra to my queue but wasn't really looking forward to it. It got near the front, but looking at the picture, it didn't seem like something I'd enjoy. Monday morning, I figured I'd start the first episode and drop it after five minutes. Hell, if I had remembered that the first episode was double length, I wouldn't have bothered. About halfway through episode 10 now, and man, I am really enjoying this.

So I'm finally watching AssClass and... it didn't have that great a start as it was focusing mostly on introducing the cast but the 5th and 6th episode have me finally really liking it.

Fantastic series tbh, and honestly one of its biggest selling points is that it doesn't at all wear out its welcome like most successful Jump series do.

Crunchyroll has it as well. Don't know when their subs will be though.

HiDive has unfortunately not managed to nab a noteable exclusive in a while, which is a shame because I thought they were making a good push for a while and I like their service. They're just getting drowned out, which is a real shame when you consider how shit everything about Funimation's app and website are.

Finished the series, did it all in one go with the roomate.

The wierd stuff is all in the middle, and even that pays off big. Overall just a very impactful show. Yuasa with another Netflix hit, I don't mind at all when they're actual true Netflix releases.

Watched The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl. Bad movie. I liked the girl's parts for the most part, but the guy was awful. I guess the overall theme of the show is "the best way to get a girl to like you is to stalk her." ugh

Gleipnir beated. This started out real good, but had a few missteps later on. Clair was generally the highlight of the show at all times. Basically whenever she was around doing stuff it was great, and when she wasn't onscreen it wasn't as good (there were a few good parts without her, but generally speaking). The middle arc of the show felt like a mistake in some ways. I did like the beginning, with all the confrontations, and the ending with the flowers was great too, but the middle parts where they were trying to work as a team were really slow and boring. It felt like they were stretching a small of manga content really thin. There were a bunch of scenes where fighters just watched other people get attacked and stood there for no reason, which always feels like shitty direction in anime. I was glad they at least managed to conclude the arc in a fun way, and then ep 11 was back to being good again.

But ep 12 was awful. Flashbacks to explain what happened in the past can be really good storytelling devices, but this one sucked, mainly because of Kaito. None of his actions here made any sense, and using this to develop him as the villain was just lame. 13 had some more interesting stuff happen, and then it ended inconclusively. I feel like ending with ep 11 would've been much stronger - rather than introducing a bunch of new characters that mean nothing to the viewer, we would've ended with the main characters developing in interesting ways. Blah.

It really depends on whether you want to read it on it's own or as a big cliffhanger into a second season.

If Gleipnir does not get a season 2 then I was agree the ending was bad.

Finally getting to SNAFU. Just started and have already let go of my prejudice a bit because YuiHachi no longer matters to me with the major YukiYui power in that OP.
