Continuing to hear stories where some had the virus in March, recovered and were testing negative, and now in June they're once again sick with it and testing positive.

We need to start preparing for a future where you have to get a shot every two or three months to strengthen the antibodies. People aren't going to like it.

Where are you hearing these stories from? I would have to see studies before I believe them. I've heard those have been false second positives.

Wow. Ive read several articles saying that asymptomatic people only have antibodies that last for 2-3 months, but I wonder if thats the case for severe cases as well?

So they lowered the projected death count.

We have to average around 350 daily deaths or fewer in order to not surpass that number. We've only been under 350 reported daily deaths twice since late March.

Probably doesn't take into account that deaths are soon to skyrocket after hospitals get overbooked in Florida, Arizona, and Texas. IIRC, New York's daily deaths weren't bad until the healthcare system was overwhelmed.

Is this the projection with the way things are now? Or if masks are mandated/more lockdowns? Maybe Im desensitized to these death numbers, but seeing how were currently at 124,000+ deaths, 179K doesnt seem *too* bad. (Feel like a maniac for even typing that).

We aren't locking down as a country again. Some area s might, but not the whole country. Our best bet is more states requiring masks.

My boss just told me to send my symptoms to our company doctor.

Woo, another paid sickation possibly incoming. Gonna be bored as fuck after two days again :(

Current symptoms: constant cough. Recurring headache. Sinus congestion. Not sure about temperature. Had a sore throat the other day but it's gone now.

Last time my doctor couldn't test me cause my temp was only in the 99s. That was back in early April though, if I get to go in today hopefully they'll be able to test me. Pretty sure testing is a lot more widespread now.

I don't think it's covid based on the cough. Covid = dry cough, right? I'm coughing up so much damn phlegm today

This, it's simple statistics. If we're not going to stay closed down, every state will go the same route eventually. It is inevitable.

The more rural states like Kentucky that are easing into reopening will be just fine though, since their cases will be so spread out, the healthcare infrastructure won't be overwhelmed. But the bigger states and states with big cities are screwed with how quick they're trying to open up. That's exactly how you get these waves lol.

This is what I'm thinking. New York is celebrating so hard that I'm seeing a magnitude less people wearing masks than during the lockdown. With the insane population in NYC, I see it returning unfortunately.

Yep I been going outside every day in NYC now since my job reopened and I have to travel to it. Just two weeks ago i'd say it was only a handful not wearing masks when I walked the streets. Now it opposite handful of people are wearing masks. Only places where I see high percentage of mask wearing is on subway/bus but elsewhere damn like people forgot corona still around.

Wouldn't be surprised if it comes back. Would be scary given NY numbers still haven't been suprassed by another state. No one else has had 10k cases or 1k deaths in US.

Yeah, definitely.

I think people underestimate just how bad NYC and NY in general were. So people see much lower numbers in other states and think it's not that bad.

Nah, NY was insanely bad and we all worked together and sacrificed so much to get it down again. This should be a lesson to not only us New Yorkers to continue keeping it under control, but the rest of the country on how bad it was and could get.

Its complacency. It happened here in Nevada too. We were doing so well, then we got careless with how we reopened the casinos. If we had mandated masks for casinos, I don't think we would be seeing spikes now. I just hope the mask mandate works in our favor. We'll see in the next 10 to 14 days.
