tar6 has one of the worst boot orders in the entire run of the show. basically every good/likeable team is out before top 6, the winners suck, and we're subjected to spousal abuse on live television. there's some very good parts (some incredible locations) but it's a trainwreck and not really fun to watch.

i think tar7 is pretty good though. it's not great, but it has enough going for it.

Cody has been my least-disliked member of the Committee for a while now (Tyler is a better person but worse TV), and, with Enzo's stunt at the triple eviction officially making him a strategic cocktease of Laurel Johnson proportions, my least-disliked person left in the game, so yeah I'm rooting for him. Plus it would just be perfect for a lame season to have a lame winner.

In a season where the gameplay is absolutely bland due to a single player enforcing an awful way of playing the game (see: Redemption Island), I cannot, in good conscience, support that player. I don't want to see Cody rewarded for his shit. At this point, I'm thinking, from least want to win, to most want to win:

1. Enzo (He's at least entertaining, if talking a way bigger game than he's willing to play)
2. Memphis (He's an asshole, which makes him appear a ton of genuine than most of this cast)
3. Christmas (She's an absolutely vile human being, but we've reached the point where I'm almost ironically hoping she wins to cap off how shit this season has been)
4. Nicole F (Like with Christmas, I kinda want to see the fanbase's reaction if she becomes Big Brother's first two-time winner. Like...this is the sort of shit your fandom desires have wrought. I hope you're happy.)
5. Tyler (Wanted to quit and would be rewarding the fanbase with a "correction" of the "bitter jury" in BB20.)
6. Cody (Fuck this. He ruined the season with his generic white guy presence. At least Jackson was edgey when he pulled out the win last season.)

Tyler is definitely a better dude than I had him pegged for last time, but for TV he still ranges from painfully boring to actively awful.

I'm sure we'll see him again sometime, most likely either on Survivor or TAR with Angela instead of a third BB season.

Did anybody watch Tough as Nails? I've only got the finale to go. My winner prediction from the very beginning has been Callie but now I'm starting to think it might actually be Danny.

Well that was a dramatic finish, really gave me TAR2 vibes. I doubted myself just a bit going into the finale, but from the beginning I always thought Danny had that "destined for 2nd" vibe about him. I will include this cast in my ranking with S39/40, BB22, and TAR32.

I thought for sure Danny was getting the inaugural white guy winner edit that appears on like, all of these reality shows. So when Murph passed him at the end, I cheered super hard. Still looks kinda...bad optics that you have a cast of six women and four men-of-color, and the final two are the only white guys in the cast of twelve.

2. TAR2 - Oswald & Danny
3. TAR1 - Kevin & Drew

7. TAR4 - Jon & Al

I'm not completely sold on that positioning yet, 1, 3 and 7 are all pretty close for me and I think there may end up being movement there as I continue through this ranking. Anyway, I had a good time with season 7, and it was about as enjoyable as I rememebered it. I'm curious to hear why a few of you guys seem to dislike it so much. Teams were a bit of a mixed bag, but I think overall the cast was good. Obviously I'm a Romber fan, and Rob is great here. Meredith and Gretchen bumbling their way into 4th is terrific - a storyline I totally forgot about until the rewatch. Uchenna and Joyce and good, satisfying winners, probably the best ones up to this point. Brian and Greg were fairly fun for the bro-y archetype. Ron "Did you know I was in the military" and Kelly sucked, but at least they got hosed at the end. Lynn and Alex I didn't completely hate, but the anti-Romber sentiment that was running throughout the season wore a little thin after a while. I get it, given this was hot off the heels of All-Stars, but in 2020 it's a little eye rolling.

I think the biggest knock against the season is that the route actually kinda sucks. Not circumnavigating the globe is lame. They spent too long roaming around South America early in the season, and some of the legs were very linear. The leg Brian and Greg got eliminated especially stands out. It was basically a straight line with zero catch-up points because the Detours and Road Blocks were so straightforward, so they were completely dead from the start just by virtue of leaving the pit stop last. Which, whatever, it happens sometimes, but I feel like this was the first season I really noticed it.

Also yes Rob and Amber totally got hosed at the end there, but given how unbelievably lucky they were the entire race up to that point, it's hard to feel too bad. Also the fact that they already won a million bucks. And then would win another million in 6 years.

Thus concludes all the seasons I had watched on original airing for a while. The combination of Season 8 being Season 8 and me going off to college at the time had me fall off the show until Season 15, so aside from the first couple episode of All-Stars, these will all be new to me for a while, even though I do know who wins every season.

brian and greg are great though, brian has been on all sorts of tv ads before and after being on the show, i feel like i've even seen him around recently despite being about 15 years since tar7 aired!

They handled something similar in TAR Asia 1 a lot better.

They had to dig in the sand to find something, and a lot of the teams decided to just quit and take the penalty. However, the penalty was given at the pit stop, and the next task couldn't be done until the next morning, so the teams who quit were actually at a disadvantage.
