Genesis, I had a lot of games for it, I stupidly gave it to my niece and she lost it.

This is the first time I've ever actually heard it explained like this. I thought the Mega Drive was what they called it when they combined the Sega CD with the Genesis.

Genesis.
I get depressed when people just it a Sega.
Mega Drive makes the most sense, which it should.

Mega Drive was the name outside of North America. Genesis was used likely for trademark reasons.

Anyone use a power base on it to play master system games? There's a few of those games that draw interest

Genesis, which is what everyone I knew called it. I never even knew the term "Mega Drive" until around 2000.

Mega Drive was the name outside of North America.

Which tends to cause confusion for Americans when they're watching YouTube videos and someone mentions the Mega Drive.

Though my personal point of contention is that I am sent into a fiery rage whenever a Brit refers to the Nintendo console as a Snez. It's an Ess-Nen-Eee-Ess, damn it!

Americans called the NES an Enn-Eee-Ess. Because it's technically an N.E.S. (Nintendo Entertainment System).

So the Super Nintendo was an Ess-Enn-Eee-Ess.

Hearing Europeans call it a Nes or Snes (or Nez/Snez) just sounds unnatural.
