Are there any fun ways to abuse his draw 1 card effect?

I don't play much MTG but I feel like that's the weakest effect on there.

Multiple combat phases is a common way, shapeshifter effects (card becomes a copy of target), etc.

Of course, having vigilance means it can block in the next turn, too, so you're on the bullet train to card-draw paradise.

Gain 3 life is way weaker than draw a card.

I feel like most ways of abusing it would be better served abusing a different card tbh. I don't think this goes in the type of deck that wants those shenanigans.

It can get killed by removal, but it has several pluses:
  • Vigilance means it can attack without tapping, i.e. it can block in the next turn
  • Trample means even when it's blocked, damage can get through (and the opponent's creatures may die)
  • Reach means it can block flying creatures, the most common type of evasion, which stalls the opponent further
  • Making 3/3 tokens fills up the board
  • Free card draw in green is always good
  • Lifegain in green is a good delay tactic
It's doing just about everything green loves to do without tapping for mana, lmao.

After the Grim Tutor, Ugin, and Azusa reprints I almost don't care to look at the rest of the set this spoiler season. I don't play standard so I'm unsure if this is good enough, but Questing Beast isn't being played is it? Because that and this new beast look so fucking pushed/powercrept. Also:

Yes, although in MTG, Walls are an actual creature type with high defense (usually) and defender, the keyword that prevents 'em from attacking. Example:

Honestly forgot Lukka existed. I usually only hear about the cards people really hate like Fires or some of the companions in other formats. I wanna see if Ugin can do anything and how fast people can get him out.

Oh and while I'm here I may as well ask, what card from Ikoria seems most likely to get baned? WotC seems to not go after cards from the newest standard sets, and I hear complaints about Winota every now and then(or was that for Historic/Brawl <_<).

Walls can't attack

This thing attacks each turn, blocks flying each turn and makes more shit to attack and block with by doing both. I'm sure there are cards that can give it hexproof as well

Me? I'll just steal it from you, attack with it, and then throw it at you

No. You can only attack and block once per turn.

But because it has vigilance it can do both.

Slap something like regeneration on it and you've created one of the most fucking annoying pieces of shit you've ever seen.

5 Mana for a 6/6 with literally no drawbacks whatsoever is also really good. For comparison, an long time ago when cards were way more OP in general, one of the best creatures was a 5/5 Juzam Djinn which cost 4 Mana and did 1 damage to you at the start of your turn.

Card draw is absolutely something that gives power. People I play against seriously underestimate the power of card draw and that's why they usually lose. They sit and wait for their best strategies, I guarantee that I'll have them as soon as possible.

I'd run a few of this guy in a mono green or green/black deck along with a lot of mana ramp. Probably not as a win-con but you'd probably score a few wins for sure just by wearing people down with him.

I doubt it'll happen. MTG went this direction intentionally, apparently because their market research said that most players like strong creatures and interactive combat.

You could probably play it turn 2 depending on how many of the mana generators from elfball decks are still available in standard.

Thus, Mr. Suitcase will continue to devour "big creatures are awesome" noobs, until they both get bored and quit.
It's never been a secret that MTG depends on rampant churn, which is the operating theory behind trashing half of your collection every year - or, even better, starting completely over with three boosters each for every session.

Also maybe im remembering wrong but cards like Force of Will and Memory Jar were way better. Like theres a million ways to deal with creatures. Just oblivion ring it. Its probably not even worth using an oblivion ring on

No. Not really.
Creatures have just been awful compared to everything else, since most of forever. Even the "classics" like Serra and Sengir were only really used to end the game after it had been locked down otherwise.
