Though lockdown measures are slowly being lifted over in Europe, we're still encouraged to stay at home.
Over the past few months, on weekends I've been working through a chunk of my backlog of films I've been meaning to see for a bit.

Some of them were really good, some were interesting but didn't quite hold up, some were just weird but still worth a look.
But I'm always looking to add new stuff on the backlog as long as I find it interesting enough.

American:

Ace in the Hole
Arsenic and Old Lace
The Hustler
Midnight Cowboy
The Lighthouse
Toy Story 4
Angels with Dirty Faces

European:

Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Z
Forbidden Games

Asian:

Silenced
The Magic Hour
Linda Linda Linda
Love Exposure
Funeral Parade of Roses
A Brighter Summer Day
A City of Sadness

So mostly a mix of US and Asian stuff, but it's just to give an idea of what I've been going for lately.
Next up I've got my eye on a couple of Korean action thrillers and maybe a Russian film, but I could certainly do with some suggestions to add to for future weeks.

Arsenic and Old Lace
Great 40s comedy. There's a reason it gets done to death by community theatres.

It's a good black comedy.

I liked what I saw out of it, not used to seeing this type of Cary Grant performance either.

They wanted Boris Karloff to play Jonathan in the film, but he was too busy playing the role on Broadway.

I keep holding off on the Lighthouse, could just be because Im a coward when it comes to horror but I like the idea of doing a back to back with it and the Witch.

Portrait is very good and Toy Story was underwhelming imo

Portrait and The Lighthouse were both very highly rater which is part of why I checked them out.

Portrait was as good as advertised, but The Lighthouse, although I liked the performances, I didn't enjoy as much.

Oh ya The Handmaiden is one of my fav Koreans.

A bittersweet life is a lot of fun too, Korea films in my experience always go harder on the big emotional scenes.

Sometimes it's a little over the top, but it's a style I do enjoy right now.

Yeah, Charade is pretty cool.
It's one of my favourite Hitchcock style films, that wasn't made by him.

Anything I haven't seen, I'm checking out the synopsis just to see if it looks interesting or not.
