Agree. They can post a black picture for a day and get on with their lives and forget about this a week later. Black people like myself have to live with black skin everyday. I'm going to deal with it until I'm dead.

People use the hashtag to point out police violence. When people look it up not they just go to see that effort literally blacked out .

Going silent isn't a good cause. Going silent allowing the Police, Trump, and white supremacists to control the narrative is not good. How are people not getting this?

Activists on the ground are saying not to do this. The protests are happening so people can be aware of the issues, it makes no sense to go silent and "blackout."

If nothing else, I think it shows how many people are supporting the movement. Few things make as much as an impact than to be scrolling through hundreds of black boxes in your newsfeed. It's actually surprised me in that some people that I didn't think would be pro-protests are actually posting the black box so it's informative I guess.

There's miscommunication all over the fucking field because you have one person claiming "BLM said use this social media trend thing" and then another saying "no, don't do this spread the word!". Literally the absolute worst thing to happen when the goal is to unify everyone on the same page.

All I know is that there's a role for everyone whether it's marching, tweeting, posting, etc. and we shouldn't be overzealous virtue signalling fuckwads telling everyone how WE should do things.
