I guess some people think it actually has meaning or adds value, or maybe they just dont want to be left out of the moment.

Just proves that even when you participate in something like Blackout Tuesday for a good cause, it's still not enough for the hardcore radicals and they will still find a way to bitch at you. Some people will ALWAYS complain no matter what, so fuck em who cares.

I don't really get why this is a big deal. How do we know the people posting black screens aren't also going to the protests or helping in some way? Not everyone gets to go to protests either. If you get arrested you could lose your job and then not be able to support your family. This is harmless and it at least shows you care to some extent.

You realize that this protest isn't just people with nothing to lose and nothing else to do right? To a lot of people, this IS supporting your family. It's also helping millions of others families. We're not talking about looters. We're talking about protesters

1. The algorithm for using the hashtag #blacklivesmatter in conjunction with posting this black square results in multiple different social media sites coming up with a bunch of blank black squares when looking up the hashtag.

2. Part of the messaging of the black square posting is silence. There's rampant police brutality all over the country at these protests, right now is not the time to be silent or blackout or whatever they're calling it.

Activists on the ground are saying not to do this. The protests are happening so people can be aware of the issues, it makes no sense to go silent and "blackout."

Its also clogging up the hashtags and hiding the instances of police brutality and Black empowerment leaders speeches on not just the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag but also the #JusticeForArbery, #JusticeForBreonnaTaylor hashtags

Some say it's actually a form of sabotage to dilute the movement and stop the flow of information

Especially when we now see Paris and other countries Mobilizing

Donating money isn't the biggest thing to do. A lot of these charity organizations don't even do good for the people. I never saw a Black person in my life benefit from a so called Black charity

I think the best thing to do is push for maximum punishment of out of control police officers like we've been doing. All this other stuff is corporate confusion

(The Confusion is by Design. This is how Power protects itself. The People are getting to Powerful for their liking.)
