So from what I've seen, having offers enabled just means you never get to sell anything full price as nobody will just use the buy it now, they always offer.

I may just not bother having the offer active and leave it at buy it now. I have no problem having stuff just sitting until it sells so not a problem at all for me if it takes a while to go.

It does seem that prices are going back up. I saw 12x Tins going for $250-260 like a week ago. Now they are back up to $350-375. It's like there was a surge in availability or something.

There was, but it's dwindling!

As soon as Gamestop does another sale on collectibles, I'm snapping a lot more up.

You can still buy them at $23 a tin but the profit margins at that price are so slim unless prices really go up again.

at least with cards, there are a BUNCH out there. There are dozens in boosters and tins and shit, and its undiscovered until you buy it. So everyone has an equal chance at it, unlike say a rare game or a chase pop

Man, went to a target this morning to check for NBA cards after someone told me they found some valuable ones in one near them. What I did not expect to find is Hidden Fates tins on the shelf (I bought them all).

I have learned that Walmart and target online stock checkers are worthless and rarely ever accurate

So I guess hidden fates Is the one, huh

How much profit are you making off off HF? Do you find it better to sell the contents in chunks rather than as one?

It's more profitable to break them down but it's easier to sell in bulk as tins. After eBay / PayPal fees and eating the shipping, it's about $8-9 per tin (but I'm selling in 12s)

If you sell individually then you could probably get it up to $11-12 per tin but you would have to worry about selling little stuff and what to do about shipping. You also have to compete with people selling packs for $6 each with free shipping (no idea how they are turning any sort of profit on that)

I'm sure anything is profit if you get it for the right price though.

I'm just selling the tins period. Sometimes I have sold sealed booster packs though. I haven't opened a single pack despite having hundreds in the house.

Chris opens packs and sells off opened. He knows what he is doing though. For me to open up my stuff and sell off individually, I have to imagine it would be very high risk. Chris has enough inventory where it isn't and balances out I'd guess.

I sell 12 tins for $375. It cost me $216 to get 12 tins from Gamestop in the sale (17 per tin). Ebay/Paypal takes $50. Shipping is like $15.

If you sell packs individually (4 per tin) you can sell for $7.50 to $8 a pack. Then whatever you can sell the empty tin and GX card for (maybe $1-2 a piece)

I'm curious how you are able to sell for $375 when there is a listing selling them for $340

Probably the same reason I could sell 4 for $30-32 + shipping when other sellers are offering $6-7 per pack and free shipping.

Maybe I would sell quicker if I priced more aggressively but I just leave them sit until they sell. I have no idea why people overpay.

Also, I just opened a few loose packs of non valuable stuff (SM Base, SM Crimson Invasion, SM Guardians Rising, XY Steam Siege).

From what I can tell you are guaranteed 1x Rare or above per pack and 1 Reverse Holo per pack

SM Base 1 - Rare Masquerain + Reverse Holo Masquerain R (so yes dupe rare in same pack)
SM Base 2 - Rare Cloyster + RH Yungoos C
Crimson Invasion 1 - Holo Rare Alolan Raichu + RH Feebas C
Crimson Invasion 2 - Rare Altaria + RH Houndoom R
Guardians Rising 1 - Rare Oricorio + RH Alolan Geodude C
Guardians Rising 2 - Holo Rare Alolan Golem + RH Clefable UC
Steam Siege - Holo Rare Chandelure + RH Drifloon C

So small sample size but the rates were abyssmal. From what I can see the only thing worth more than $1 is the Holo Rare Alolan Golem which is worth like $2 on a good day

That definitely kills my desire to open any Hidden Fates packs where I would be pissing away $8 per bad pack (which seems to be more frequent than not). Or I guess $4-5 per pack if you say 'at cost'

EDIT: Also one of the packs (the double Masquerain pack) was all scuffed in one corner on every card which I may expect off a shelf but it came out of a box. So theoretically shouldn't have been manhandled in stores.

I also opened the 4 Unbroken Bonds booster packs I had laying around and got nothing good in them (3 Standard Rares, 1 Holo Rare Slowbro). One of the packs didn't even have a reverse holo in which I am fairly certain every pack is supposed to get (since the Rare and RH are always next to each other in the middle of the pack)

So nothing good from 11 packs. Which is still a small sample size but figured I may have at least gotten 1 Ultra Rare or something.

I noticed 12 tins of HF passed the $300 mark last month, so I feel like just holding off before selling. I think the value will skyrocket at some point

The supply drying up would explain why I went from 1 watcher to 9 watchers in like 24 hours on one of my eBay listings

Oh hey eBay increased my limit again. So now I can sell 100 items / $5000 a month. Seems like whenever I got close to the limit, they just increased my limits without me asking.

EDIT: Also I think I'm officially at more spent on Hidden Fates than the topic title now.

I didn't expect GS to run out yesterday, they seemed to have a really steady supply of it, but it makes sense when all the other retailers and websites are either selling for too much or don't have any. My local Target's don't have any either

Yeah, will be interesting to see if they get more stock or not from this point as this is the only time I've seen them run out of stock.

It could also just be a move on their part where they say they are out of stock because too many were getting sold at 25% off and then once the sale is over they come back in stock. I've seen them do that before with other items. They notably did it with high end Switch games when they did their B2G2 offer where everything worthwhile was out of stock and then miraculously back in stock the moment the sale ended.

Either way, I think I need to look into getting cards from distributors. Not just Pokemon cards but others too. Relying on getting things from Gamestop, Walmart and Target is probably not a good strategy for the long haul. Basketball cards are in so much higher demand than Pokemon cards. I got 3 offers on a Basketball listing within 10 minutes of listing it. I assume the same applies for other sports cards too.

I don't know anything about getting cards from distributors. Maybe Chris can provide pointers

I've now spent about $3000 Canadian, but I pulled 2 Charizards that look like a strong possibility for PSA 10 so those alone should make up for all that I've spent. Crazy! Will be sending in, along with three umbreons, for grading. Wish me luck!

I've started selling the base set, not shiny vault, with some good success so far! Made about $250 in sales, and I still have a lot of doubles to sell, and haven't cracked the shinies since I think those will go up in price fast!

For the record, I will hold onto those Charizards for 10 years probably!

My plan is also to get through distributors, but the landscape is different in Canada. I've also been enjoying collecting so much, I keep dipping into my sales to buy more HF....trying to build a side bank before I go full businessman, but I'm up to 400 transactions and $8200 in sales since end of March!

SE, the pull rates in HF are basically double your money. Just a heads up. It's not like regular packs. There is one spot in the pull that can be a reverse holo, or one of 94 shiny vault cards.

I spent $180 the other day, and pulled like $400 worth of ungraded cards.
