I don't know how many of these tins I should buy as someone who doesn't collect Pokemon cards. With YGO, certain commons and rares can have value if they're staples or someone wins a tourney with them, so I don't know if the same applies to Pokemon

If you're buying from Gamestop you could literally buy them and just resell the tins at profit without even opening them. 2 tins for $35. The tins sell for like $40 each or something

They're selling for sub-$25 on Amazon :/

I've decided to open one powers collection (7 packs) for now. Wanted to get the promo cards out and the packs looked tampered with. I've read online that a lot if not most of the reprint look like that.

Going to open to see if they've been messed with!

Ungraded around 400 these days. Psa 10 probably safe 650 700. Market has been going up though.

Hold on and sell single packs for a few years! Like I said, sets with 50x less remarkable cards that were produced in an extremely abundant fashion, are selling for 20x their original value.

I'll take a pic tomorrow. It seems the front row in the premium powers collection all have weird looking tops and bottoms.

For shiny vault, I got Lyncanroc GX(hyena one) and Articuno GX, as well as Sudowoodo. I love these cards!

If you missed the GameStop flash sale, there's still another good deal today on the Hidden Fates tins.

They have 20% off collectibles if you spend $50+ and 30% off if you spend $100+. Sadly you are limited to 3 tins per purchase which makes them $18.40 a tin. If there's an additional $50 of collectibles you want or can resell to get you above $100 then the 3 tins would be $16.10 each.

It was annoying enough to find something a $1 to get the free shipping, now you have to find $50 worth... lol. Too bad the other HF collections are sold out

EDIT: Essentially if I bundle Hidden Fates tins with the Detective Pikachu stuff, I can get 3 Hidden Fates Tins + 3 Detective Pikachu Greninja GX cases for $89 after tax. Or is it better to just do the Hidden Fates tins for like $59 after tax?

Ok well I'm about as deep as I am going to get. For ~$245 I got 10 Hidden Fates Tins and 6 Detective Pikachu Greninja GX Cases. Should have been $10 less but for some reason it wouldn't take my final $10 voucher. Maybe it doesn't let you use multiple in the same day.

All in all Gamestop got $332 out of me as I bought some other stuff yesterday to meet the free shipping criteria and then again today purely because 30% off was active. Other items I got were:

Wallet (my current one is falling apart anyway)

The Charizard Case File does not have as many items in as the Greninja Case File from what I can see. Same with the Mewtwo File (which has the same items in as Charizard except Mewtwos)

I'm pretty sure Detective Pikachu will appreciate veeeery slowly, but what do I know!

I still want more Hidden Fates.... i have a feeling I'm going to want to open some. It's fun to open packs that contain valuable cards, but the true value will be holding onto the packs!

If Greninja is worth more, it's almost definitely because of being relevant in the game. It might go down in value

I could be wrong but I'd imagine Greninja is worth more because the GX cards only come from the cases and the Greninja Case is more expensive. So if you want to complete the set for collection purposes you either buy the more expensive case to get it or you buy the card individually for a lot less.

By the way the true value is getting PSA 10s of the really crazy Pokemon.

because PSA 10s are going to skyrocket when hf is completely done.

Out of curiosity, why would something fresh out of a pack now be PSA 10? I assume that's the highest grade right?

Googled everything and worked out the profit/loss at current rates and it seems like the Greninja Cases are actually significantly better profit than Hidden Fates assuming everything sells.

Greninja cases cost $12.33 after tax. The GX card sells for $6, the pin $5, the jumbo card $7-8, the DP boosters $2.25 (x5) and the SM Boosters $3.30 (x2). So that's $24-25 profit per case.

Hidden Fates cases cost $17.70 after tax. Selling all the contents nets $17-18 profit per tin assuming you can sell the empty tin for like $1-2.

The Greninja Cases are such ridiculous profit that I have to assume they will be very slow to move.

But you're not going for profit tomorrow! I bought the HF premium power collections mostly, which have 3 promo cards, a jumbo, a poster and 7 packs.

Bought for $65 CAD x8.

Sell promos for 25-30 total
Jumbo for 8
Poster for 6
Packs for 10-12 each...

Or the sealed box for $140. But it's a shame to let HF go too early!

Also, cards usually lose PSA out of the packs for printing lines, bad edges and cut(equal sized border top and bottom)

I'm slightly worried you guys may have gotten me down a rabbit hole here.

I can very easily see me crunching numbers in spreadsheets and starting to buy/sell this type of stuff (in general, not just HF/DP). Just googling things, it seems pretty easy to turn a decent profit.

This was the reason I stopped buying YGO cards. I was amassing so much that I needed to wait for X amount of time on before I could make good profit. I still have a shit ton left
