To tell you the truth even though I really like contests I don't really want another one. When you know the winner there is no fun. And the old contests were fine. Remember GOTD 1? Even at the last few hours of the final match we didn't know who would win. And the furthest back you get things were better. After 2010 though things changed so much that nobody can challenge Zelda/Link without a rally. Even in GOTD 2 imagine if BOTW for example wasn't in it and the final was Witcher vs Skyrim. Even in the last day we wouln't sure whou would win.

Yeah it is the journey and not the destination. Maybe it is whining from my part. Eh still. So what do you think?

I mean I came to B8 during the off-season and I enjoy the community and board projects and stuff.

But pragmatically contests are something we need (maybe) to get some new blood.

Zelda just ruins the contests at this point. I mean the rest of the noble 9 seem to fluctuate but Link and the Zelda games just win everything and it's crap.

I think there are ways to make the winner not clear.

Ocarina of Time may not actually be the strongest game anymore, and although Link's strength has only gotten bigger over the years (wow), I'd stick to removing him from the bracket but having its multiple incarnations as bonus late-contest challengers.

Obvious winner is preferable imo because it makes the obscenely overweighted 64 point match a non-factor.

I used to care a lot about those, usually refershing the contests website for close matches, I used to read every post in the stats topic and post there as well
This year...I didn't do neither
I just didn't care and I don't know why and what changed, but maybe contests are behind me

I mean don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Link dethroned, but it's still possible to have lots of exciting/fun matches even with a boring final.

Even if it isn't 64 points, the final will still be the most valuable match and it's rarely ever even up for debate

People care about it most because it matters most, even just mathematically - and that's ignoring the more emotional draws that make a final matter more than any other match.

With that said, I totally reject "contests suck because Link always wins" as a justification for contests being bad, or something.
