Yeah, it's quite good, though it suffers from some obvious burnout towards the end along with being canceled. It's still solid all the way through though.

Netflix has a shitload of horrid, pointless originals, but shows like Bojack and Ozark make up for the shit.

It's amazing how it goes from just so-so to amazing about halfway through the first season and stays good for the rest of its run.

I haven't watched it but the premise doesn't fill me with confidence. Just feels like everybody blows up how depressed or whatever the cartoon horse is. Just sounds adjacent to all the not great eps of rick and morty where we get a big monologue every 5 minutes about how troubled a character is.

Bojack Horseman is significantly better than Rick and Morty tbh

Bojack is way better written than rick and morty. It also tells a much more cohesive overall story and the depressing parts aren't just stuffed in the last few minutes of every other episode. It's just one of bojack's traits that he's depressed

Its good, but the themes and plots sort of stagnate in terms of progression. I didnt have much motivation to continue past season 3, and reading spoilers for the rest of the show, it sounds like I didnt miss much >_>

Even after hearing all the praise for what it becomes, I couldnt bring myself to even finish that first episode.

On the topic of good Netflix shows though, Master of None is terrific, and Glow is really good too. Oh, and their exclusive season of Shaun the Sheep.

Its just a great overall show. The comedy is great and the drama is great and when they meld together neither aspect undercuts the other

they also do some really cool experimental stuff with storytelling that couldnt be done outside of animation

truly one of the best shows of all timeit does pretty much everything right

rick and mortys depressing stuff doesnt work because it just comes out of nowhere and is such a tonal shift

On paper I like the show, and the few episodes I've seen have been good enough, but I'm not really a fan of suffering porn where the point is to watch characters implode under their own flaws so I just couldn't get into the series as a whole. It's very similar to how I can't stand "Meet the Parents" style movies that boil down to "let's watch a nice guy trip through an endless series of embarrassing failures and suffer for 2 hours before finally getting the girl".

Like... I get it. Everyone in the cast is a bad person, and they'll fail at everything they do for multiple seasons because they're shitty people, and just when they think they're getting out of their hole some event will push them back in. I don't need 6 seasons of that.

Its great. And I'm kind of glad it ended when it did instead of jumping the shark and drawing it out as a cash grab. Even though I wasn't a big fan of the ending tbh.

Still one of my favorite shows that I hold very dear to me.

The first 6 episodes are a major drag, but by episode 7 it gets much better.

What makes Bojack stand out from other shows that deal with depression is that it actually makes me laugh.
