I understand their job is risky, and they understood that when signing up. The real problem with cops is the blue blood disease, even the "good ones" won't say or do shit while their colleagues commit crimes of their own. The lack of accountability is what pisses people off the most because it's business as usual without it.

I am wary of cops because interacting with them would could easily lead to you getting in trouble with the law.

But that means nothing. I also think prosecutors have an inherently unethical aspect in their job because their job is to put people in prison, sometimes regardless of actual guilt. But the good they do for society vastly outweighs any bad. Again, imagine a society without a justice system, which includes the police. it would be total chaos.

No, I have not had a bad experience with a cop. This is not the gotcha moment you were looking for though, because it has nothing to do with my original argument. What is a "negative aspect of policing"? A cop who is racist is not a negative aspect of policing, that's a negative aspect of that person. Of course it's possible for the law itself to be corrupt or for the leadership of a police force (who sets the agenda for that police force) to be corrupt, but both of those are related and are way more nuanced than the cop hating some people do.

Thinking all cops are bad because of corrupt cops is the exact same logic as thinking all politicians are bad because of corrupt politicians. The latter of which is nonsense, so that makes the former...?

I think part of the hate is because cops can and do literally get away with murder if they say they were scared. "That unarmed guy was running away from you. Why did you shoot him?" "I was SCARED FOR MY LIFE!" " Ok you're free to go with no consequences and keep being a cop."

And yes I am aware not all cops do that.
The fact that any of them can is messed up.

I agree that generalizing about a whole occupation is silly and they generally do have more risks for their safety than most occupations, but the main reason most people get pissed off at the police force is because when a cop clearly does some shit that is immoral/illegal, the worst thing that tends to happen to them a lot is a slap on the wrist. What most people who have a hatred for cops is the lack of accountability and how much stuff they can get away with it.
