It's a shame I didn't feel like taking AR seriously(Well I never do feel like it...) because I finally put together the Dark season team I wanted. The Four Fangs + two Dark Heroes for lift reduction and stats(Bramimond is from 7 so technically Sothis is the only one that doesn't fit but..)

Managed to kill two Brave Ike end turn users after making a few modifications.

I'm happy that Lloyd seems to be working fairly well. He has tanked things I was not expecting him to tank. Two kills means I don't lose lift either so that's nice.

I also finally took the time to make teams depending on season, and only after I got inspiration from a player I faced. The setup is quite genius and I thought I really needed to do something about the -80 lift loss I get more often than not. I was too lazy to really care, but I finally had had enough. I've been able to get into tier 26 ever since and I'm happy with the results. The map layout makes it very difficult for opponent to destroy buildings and pots safely. Only one or two people have been able to get to the pots. I swapped in Thrasir today for a second Mythic. Let's see how detrimental her weapon debuff will be

On another note, FIke was the MVP in conquering Seliph Infernal. Gotta bait a baiter with a baiter, and FIke self-heal is invaluable for these sorts of maps. Nasty Julia fended off the left side with a little bit of support from Gangrel. FIke and Julia are really great for clearing content

for story mode stuff it shouldn't really matter? you can always train units later relatively quickly so i just use whoever i like since i haven't really started doing the really competitive modes yet. 4* need 20k feathers to promote to 5*

for dupes you see what skills they can learn and keep them around to pass the skills on to units you actually want to use. usually their best skills are at 5* so you might have to first spend the 20k to get them to 5* and then sac them to the unit you want to use. there are some pretty valuable units at 4* though for skills.

or if a dupe is of a character you want to use, fuse them to your og unit to make them stronger.

I forgot you can even do mock battles. The first time tried to be bold and threw F!Ike at Sothis. He killed her, then got Jaffar and Lloyd on enemy phase before Ursula deleted him. The second time, I used my other light team with Igrene, and was able to clear it without a death. It helps that Distant Ward is not Distant Counter exactly, and archers are safe.

I should probably spend the time on a legitimate defense team too. -80s are common.

I also tried your map. It turns out that Altina can kill everything on the first turn if I don't bother trying to get the pots. I'm not sure how to go about that if I wanted to also get them.

Pink stars are for summoner support. You can only pick one character at a time, and they receive a slight stat boost. You must have picked Celica at some point. Resplendent Linde is just an alternate art version of Linde. She gets +2 in all stats and is only obtainable with the feh pass.

Sothis, Byleth, Eleonora, Lyn, and Celica are strong. Mirabilis and Ninian are useful by virtue of being dancers, but Mirabilis fulfills the role better. Linde, Ike, Fjorm, and Eyvel are fine but outclassed a bit. And Reinhardt is still one of the best 4* units that you can promote. If you have a +Atk version of him, he'd be a worthwhile promotion to merge with the one you have.

Yeah, I imagine my team is really weak to those who don't care/benefit from being debuffed since a good portion of my team has something to debuff. I opted for Distant Ward over DC since Lloyd doesn't do so hot against archers anyway, and Ward helps him survive some surprising foes. I just need to find a way to stack speed on him more...

We need a dark mythic that grants speed. Joint drive speed might also be nice. I agree that Distant Ward suits him better, and I think people are more likely to have a mage nuke than an archer in AR.

The four fangs and Bramimond. What's not to love. I missed out on Bramimond last time, but that guy is really annoying to deal with.

You're smarter than my past two defense players that had Altina and still surrendered. Putting Luna on the ranged armors was a great suggestion and there's very little that can survive their initiation. And yea, you're not getting the pots without losing at least one unit

Sylvain and Ingrid are both popular enough to show up as both Academy Arc and War Arc versions. So I don't think that will be a problem.

i think that's why most people save up like 1000 orbs in anticipation. there's a chance that it takes a lot to even get 1 of your target

i think i saw somewhere that it averages like 200 for a target unit? but if you're trying to get allll the multiples 1000+ seems like a reasonable amount??

i saw this thread recently for 10+ of recent release. says saved f2p 2150 orbs and ended up using 1666 with the final one coming at 14%

if you just started up again there should be a good source of free orbs from all the story mode/mission stuff

It's not a good idea. It might be tempting to go for the second one to erase a bad bane, but definitely not more than that.

I usually keep 200 orbs in reserve for emergencies. I think we get something like 300 free orbs a month.

IVs are more of a reason to leave pokemon since they're harder -_-

but natures here are really simple and what convinced me is that if you pull a good nature later down the road, you can basically port all your progress on to that one unlike in pokemon where if you invest time into a bad nature pokemon, it's for nothing

Merging to eliminate bane was definitely a very nice QoL update, even if the intention behind it is crap

Pokemon introduced items that let you change which stat gets boosted and lowered and they aren't too hard to get. So you can effectively fix the natures on even event Pokemon now.

They absolutely are. That's why IF anyone decides to spend money on this game, you buy the discounted packs. Of course I'd be wary about opening up your wallet in the first place.

If you want the +10 "right now" then... yeah, that's going to get expensive if you haven't saved up a ton of orbs. If you're f2p, you need to be patient with this sort of thing. People with disposable income can +10 whenever. Otherwise, you need to decide what you're going to +10 and be diligent with it. More importantly you need to recognize when it's not going to happen this time around. Don't fall into the trap of being stuck at like +7 and going "I have to finish this now!".

Heroes will reappear on different banners, so if you can't get what you want the first time there's always another time.
