Pretty sure Renew is supposed to be the replacement for Power Word Shield seeing as that got completely changed to not draw a card. (They decided that Priests discover/generate cards instead of drawing cards now). Power Word Shield was good, and the replacement (Renew) is also good.

Renew is not the card I would nerf in Priest, though. I would change the hero power on Galakrond cause it leads to hour long games. Just make it summon Jade Golems or something so that it can actually end people's suffering.

Actually it looks like HSReplay didn't record where the game glitched out causing a loss so I guess it was technically 39-35 and 115-71 overall. I went 6-1 after that which is great because I was pretty close to quitting for the day in a huff.

I had Arcane Shot in hand and could have played it to bring him to 2. I tend to hold it if I know for sure I can play it next turn regardless in case the opponent leaves lethal without realizing I have it in hand. I assumed he would heal up.

I forgot that he completed quest last turn so his Oberon whatever it's called gives +3/3 to minions for the easy win. If I had used Arcane Shot it at least could ends in a tie if he had nothing in hand or is careless. More realistically he plays something from hand and wins anyway win instead of going straight face immediately but I didn't give myself that option.

Does a tie break win streak? I've never had one before

I think they would die from explosive trap before their minion hit face, so it wouldn't be a tie. (Or they could heal face before attacking into a hunter trap while at 2 health, which is probably the right plan)

(From what I understand ties just act as if literally nothing happened, so they don't break a streak).

He had like 6-7 cards in hand so I'm assuming he wins regardless as he probably had something in hand to heal up. I was just annoyed I made an obvious misplay because I realized the second he buffed his minion.

He hadn't tested for anything.

It's pretty safe to assume explosive trap right now.

Most hunters run 2x explosive trap and no other secrets cause it's really good against DH (most DH minions have 2 health, and DH has no class cards that buff minions), and you want to guarantee explosive off of phase stalker, which encourages you to not run any other secrets..

After 60 hours I hit over 7700 with what I think my be my first ever menagerie 1st place. The crazy thing was I had 2 megasaurs, 2 battlemasters, a bagurgle, and another malganis in my hand just in case I had to pivot or change it up at some point.

I've been playing Pyramad by staying on level 1 until 6 gold, keeping just the starting minion on board if it's good and I think I can win, and then immediately leveling to 3 and using hero power on 7 gold to catch up on levels if I can get away with it. Learned it from watching bebe play and so far it's been working out.



Also, I figured I'd start playing on EU every once in a while to test out different heroes and strategies and so far I think I'm gaining a couple useful tips from it.

Man, I've noticed that 0.0000000000001 second queue time on some streamers.

Like...for real Educated Collins, I just want you to stay on the menu screen for 1 second so I can see what your current MMR is, but no, spam click so fast that the menu is covered up by the queue wheel before it's even done loading in.

Next month Legend might be achievable if I get enough bonus stars that I don't have to dredge through all the lower ranks like I have this month

You always get enough bonus stars to get you one rank floor below wherever you finished in the previous season.

Right. My point is more that with enough bonus stars, it won't take me 185 games to get to Plat 5 like it did this month because I was starting off with only 3 bonus stars.

If I get to Diamond 10 then I can probably reach Plat 5 in less than half the games it took this month.

Way way less. You'll start with a bonus of 7, and don't forget that win streaks are still there! If you win 3 games in a row at Bronze with a bonus of 7, you'll get 14 stars.

It's worth grinding up to Diamond 5 each month for that alone.

I'm not sure how win streaks work with bonus stars.

In April, I had zero win streaks, and every number of stars lasted for 2 wins before going away.
In May, I win streaked initially, and the number of stars decreased with every single win, effectively yielding the same bonus.

It might have also just been that they tweaked their system. I "ran out of" bonus stars much, much sooner in May, but it still stayed at the x3 and x2 level for a while.

Well you decrease a bonus star for every floor you cross. It's pretty likely you cross a floor every win if you are on a win streak with bonus stars (and obviously guaranteed at 8+)

I snapped my cold steak on battlegrounds (kept getting second if I did well) and got a first for the first time in like 20 games with Edwin, 8.5 was too hard for me I guess

Granted most of those games I either had a really bad start and had to stay on 4 and develop a divine shield strat or I pushed ahead and found stuff that didnt fully complete.

Capped off my going Legend with an arena run, which went for 12 wins! I can't remember the last time I'd done that, since I don't play arena often at all anymore, probably a good 2 years ago. I spent most of the gold I got on 5 packs and didn't get a single card higher than rare. I'd be more upset, but somehow that included a Blackjack Stunner, 2 Bloodboil Brutes, and another golden Bloodsail Brute. So uh, ok, thanks for the 1100 dust.

Woo got another one, this time just a classic Mama Bear spike but it was pretty noticeable because Lizard guy carried me so hard after 6 gold and I got perfect snipes for Rafaam despite never getting a spawn (Got the triple lizard at a level up turn and Imp right before I went to 5 and got Mama, then sniped a goldrinn the next turn, after that I mostly just got Deathrattles to boost the lizard)

They do break win streaks because you didn't win or lose, it's a win streak not a didn't lose streak. They don't take away anything though because you didn't lose.

Played George, thinking maybe I'd finally look for those lizards at tier 1. Never happened. Instead, I had 3 sets of tokens. I'm starting to tank health, but I've got 4 murlocs, so maybe, just maybe I can make that work, right? I grab a running set of Coldlight Oracles, level into 4 and grab Brann, get the +1/+1 murloc a couple times and then a battlemaster. And from there it was fairly smooth sailing en route to a golden brann and a couple megasaurs. It's amazing how all my yang seems to get spent in one lode.

It's kinda embarassing, but over the past week i had been steadily losing around 1000 MMR, bottoming out at 7300 yesterday.

Today I'm up 800 MMR and i'm back to 8100

One thing I think i was better at before we knowing when I should be playing for 3rd place. Taking the win is great but sometimes it just isn't in the cards and you end up snatching a 60 point loss from the jaws of breaking even.

I ended up taking second that game to a guy who had the absolute nuts at a VERY early turn.

He had double mackerel with 4 other murlocs. All had divine shield and poisonous and the mackerel were taunted so they got the DS resets after every hit.

I tried to transition after that loss but ran out of time. I should have tried the thing where I exited the game and rejoined to get more time. Either that or stuck with beasts and hard rolled for a ghoul and a second cleave.

Hindsight!

Well that was frustrating. Got 1 win away from Diamond 10 but lost with the opponent at 1 HP. Followed it up with 2 more losses so back to exactly where I started.

No bad luck or RNG or misplays or anything. Just how it goes but frustrating nonetheless

So uhhhhh this was a decent Thoughtsteal......



And then later, my Skeletal Dragon gave me Brightwing, which I played onto my board where I had just used that Thoughtstolen Zephrys, and it gave me Barista Lynchen to give me more copies of Brightwing and him back into my hand.

Don't feel bad for my opponent though; he was playing Highlander Quest Priest, the scum.

After a 3-10 streak yesterday that took me from 1 win from Diamond 10 to bottom of Plat 3, I managed to go 8-2 today to reach the floor. So next floor update!

Started playing Battlegrounds with 0 knowledge of HS this morning.

Pushed myself up from the starting 4k to 4.6, lots of people at this elo still doing things I perceive as really stupid, by which I mean, undervaluing their economy.

For example, half the lobby is buying a minion on turn 2, which I'm sure is wrong in almost every default case. I played Millhouse, so obviously there are exceptions, but it happens way too much.

Usually the level up turns are turn 2 (4 gold), 5 (7 gold) and 7 (9 gold) to get to 4. There's exceptions

Rafaam, Pyramad can stay on 1 for a bit then catch up later thanks to strong 1 mana hero powers
Daryl can stay on 3 for a bit to dance on some premium units (divine shields and imp gang are usually the ones) especially if behind
Yogg can either stay behind or power up, hero power is really strong and flexible.
If your roll just sucks you can hypothetically just take the L and level and hope the minions next roll end up giving you a comeback
If you are ahead you can power level to 5 or 4 and after turn 5 and get something decent to build around (Brann, Razorgore, Baron, or if you get a triple, Mama/Kalecgos)

After that it depends

My board is great and I have plenty of life, level to 5. Maybe level to 6 if I fight a dead guy or have something premium. If I'm murlocs, I basically have to go here and get Brann and try to triple a megasaur.

My board sucks and I got killed, stay on 4, try to go a divine shield route which is usually a pretty safe top 4 build.
