So gala secret rogue is 35-35. I'm moving to the highlander version.

I can safely call Galakrond Secret Rogue a bad deck. It has to get the right draws in just the right order, on top of getting highroll RNG to win. When the deck goes off, it can obviously do some zany things but these games do not happen as often as people think. There's a reason this deck gets annihilated by anything with low variance (Warrior, Hunter, Demon Hunter). It relies ENTIRELY on RNG to win, and we've seen for years that RNG in Hearthstone is the worst game design in human history. Nothing will ever be worse.

This is why DH is broken, btw. It isn't just the cards being good. The class isn't crippled by RNG bullshit.

At what rank? I can tell you that I'm 68-31 with Face Hunter. Unless you're specifically looking for a Rogue deck.

Man, this feels like a kick in the nuts by RNG.

Have a Warlock at 1 Health. I have 12 Health as Hunter.

Warlock Board - 4/1 Voidwalker / 4/4 Magic Carpet
Hunter Board - 4/4 Misha

His turn goes
Play Fiendish Servant
Play EVIL Genius > Witch Lackey > Ethereal Lackey
Deathrattle Fiendish Servant onto EVIL Genius
Play Ethereal Lackey > Discover ???
Play Witch Lackey > Transform EVIL Genius into Wrathscale Naga
Both Lackeys into Misha > Wrathscale Naga hits face both times
Everything else into face

Feels like without getting the Witch Lackey and without it transforming something into Wrathscale Naga (which has to be insanely low odds?) he loses unless he finds like some health recovery of some sort.

Pretty sure it's got to be correct even if you're going with this strategy to tier up to tier 2 at some point, right?

Yeah, you get more saurolisks by staying on tier 1, but you get more deathrattles by upgrading to tier 2 (only 3 deathrattles on tier 1, mecharoo, servant, and selfless hero).

Stay tier 1 till you get a critical mass of saurolisks, and then upgrade to tier 2 which adds +7 deathrattles in the pool and an extra shop slot--something like that?

I've done it 6x now and I've gained MMR all but 1 time. I think it's a legit strategy, particularly with some heroes.

1) While you are doing this you can ALSO get a golden wrathweaver. In these situations the 2/1 demon will buff your saurolisks AND give your wrathweaver +4/+4.

2) Once you are receiving +4/+4 for every deathrattle (either 2 golden saurolisks or 1 golden and 2 regular) it is definitely correct to level up. Especially combined with the wrathweaver stuff because that gives you plenty of extra demons to take, AND it gives you another demon WITH deathrattle.

3) I thought this strat would be good with millhouse because I thought I would just buy out every window and keep crap in my hand to remove things from the pool, but it's not. Don't do it with millhouse.

4) ALWAYS do this strat with George. I just had a round where I would have gotten first if someone hadn't highrolled double mackerel poison divine shield. It wasn't just that they got the complete late game murloc build, it was how EARLY they landed on it. The starting divine shields + the re-shields from the likely gold selfless hero are just amazing.

Reached another tier so time to record how many matches it took

13-0 - Bronze 9 to Silver 5
16-7 - Silver 5 to Gold 10
29-19 - Gold 10 to Gold 5
18-10 - Gold 5 to Platinum 10

76-36 - Overall

At this rate maybe I can reach Diamond after not playing for ~2 years and starting with just a 3 star bonus. If I really grind I may even be able to get to Legend (seems unlikely though)

A lot better against Priests than I thought. Priests, Warrior and Paladin were always the matches I hated to see. Seems like I should change that Priest matchup to Warlock though

HSReplay says the decks wins at 52.12% rate from Bronze to Gold. The worst matchups are supposed to be every Warrior deck (except Galakrond), every Priest deck, every Paladin deck (except Quest which is 50/50), Totem Shaman and Spell/Token Druid

So I think I can conclude there are some shitty Priest and Paladin players out there. Or alternatively there are a lot of shitty Face Hunter players bringing the stats down. It's supposed to be really good against all Warlock decks so maybe that's on me.

If you have Baron and Sneed's in play at the same time, I'm pretty sure you are guaranteed to get at least one copy of The Beast every round, and there's a 50% chance that token from it is going to be the last minion standing.

Had the chance to test this theory just now and it is quite nice. My early game wasn't actually great, but the thing scaled quite well in the mid-game and stayed on my board. Got first place, but that was more a function of getting 2 good size deflect-o-bots and getting a 6/228 golden battlemaster for the very last fight. Think the saurolisk ended up at 17/48 (non golden). Felt like a quick game.

Just had another strong Tier1 Saurolisk game! It turned into a marathon of a game where I only got second because the last guy was able to full pivot from divine shield mechs to poison mackerel over a single turn. It forced a tie on the turn I would have killed him, and then the following turn he had added a SECOND poison mackerel so it was over for me.

I ended up tiering up to 2 as soon as I had 2 gold saurolisk and 1 gold wrathweaver, and then eventually tiered up to 3 when it cost 0 gold. The game ran 21 turns because I typically only dealt 2-4 damage when I won lol, but I basically didn't lose from turn 3 to 18 so it was just a matter of waiting until everyone else killed each other. At one point on two I discovered a zerus from a triple which gave me Foe-Reaper so I had a cleave to lead off for awhile, but eventually I had to trade it so I could tech ghoul and give myself a chance to beat the last guy.



This just feels like the legitimate safest way to play and top 4 with certain heroes. And because the games run so long I think Noz can definitely be one of those heroes. My hero power ended up being worth 20 gold by the end of the game.

It seems like a lot of people around 7k are taking saurolisk on 1 and then they'll do the strategy if they get another one on turn 2. If not they level up like normal

If you don't get offered a saurolisk on turn 1 I don't think this is a viable strategy just because everyone else is trying to do it too but maybe I'm wrong.

I have not encountered anyone else doing it in my games yet. But I think as long as you are offered 1 on turn 1 or 2 it's fine to force it, there are few enough minions on 1 that it would take extraordinary levels of bad luck to not find at least one contributing minion each turn.

Thoughts:

Pally and Shaman have progress and address some issues (lack of stats for Shaman's controlly cards, Pally finally has a 1 drop) but I don't think it's there yet

DH probably just switches to the Aggro variant again with Felwings, Beaming Sidekick OP and wouldn't be surprised if it's nerfed down the road

a lot of the other nerfs wouldn't surprise me if they still see play, maybe Zoo stops but everything else...

Also, with Blackjack Stunner, I wish they would change the card so it makes it cost X more up to a maximum of 10. In the late game Blackjack Stunner may as well be a 1 mana 1/2 with Battlecry: Destroy a minion, except better because it silences it and also reduces the opponents maximum hand size by one.

I'm disappointing at some of these changes. I've been playing very little standard, but this round includes a lot of my favorites from the new expansion. Only argument I can see for nerfing all the DH cards is that they want to have room to print new stuff in forthcoming expansions that actually improves the class. DH is strong, sure, but it's easily defeated with the right counters. I'm almost always on board with warrior nerfs, though. Aldor Attendant going to a 1 mana 1/3 is an interesting tweak, though.

Turn 1: Dwarven Sharpshooter
Turn 2: Scavenger's Ingenuity > Augmented Porcupine

Granted there's many ways that could have shut that down but my opponent had no answer (some sort of DH deck)

I find rez priest boring, so I don't want to go that route at all. I want to keep the thief and highlander themes as much as possible, but I'm willing to add anything that makes sense. I'm committing to this for the expansion, so I'll use my dust to make it better. It seems like every time I want to remove a card though, it suddenly shines in the next few games. Even things like Scorpid, which have been great for early removal or reach late. Since I finally got the deck tracker going again, I've only lost to a more tuned Priest deck during my run from Plat to Diamond.

Yeah I don't really think Demon Hunter is a huge problem anymore. If it gets nerfed to oblivion then people are just going to play Dragon Hunter or Highlander Hunter and do the same thing.

I'm actually more afraid to face hunters right now actually because they have real removal options outside of eye beam and Altruis. You can counter a DH for 8 turns and win the game. If you do the same thing against Hunter they're going to drop Alex, Zephyrs, and a free King Crush on you.

I've never been unhappy to get those (off renew/gala), but then it becomes what do I take out to straight add them. Because I feel like I need the early game (makes Hunter/DH free wins). Plague and Skel Dragon then? Seems like most people are dropping Plague these days anyway.

Didn't matter in the end but just came across an uncertainty in a match which made me not play a card. Does 'Destroy All Minions' remove dormant minions? And if so, do their deathrattles still activate?

In my instance I had Teron Gorefiend in hand with a Dormant minion on the board whose deathrattle would have given me lethal that turn. I didn't think the Destroy All Other Friendly Minions would remove the minion (so trigger the deathrattle) so didn't play the card and waited until next turn.
