I even see some Bernie kiddos saying they'd rather vote Trump or vote a 3rd party (which is basically voting Trump too).

Like wtf? Since when did Biden ever do anything so wrong that could equate him to be worse preferred than Trump?

He is, as Dr Evil May have said, the Diet Coke of socialism

My dear boy, if you honestly believe Trump will be done after another four years, you shall be sorely mistaken.

Now that Trump has been elected, he will be at the forefront of American politics until he dies. I have a sneaking suspicion that the two-term maximum will be changed by hook or by crook. Even if that is not the case, he shall be the Cowabungan Monkey Lizard on the shoulder of every future president. Cackling, ranting and broadcasting his feces far and wide.

The one interesting idea this post brings to mind is Trumps role after hes no longer President.

Will his base obediently move on to the next Republican figurehead, or will he maintain influence over a Trump cult. And if he does, how much power will they have over the future of the GOP?

I doubt that once Trump is no longer a potential candidate that the Grand Old Party will give him the time of day. He has always been far more interested in cultivating a cult of personality than serving a political party and furthering their goals. He was useful in gaining the presidency for the Republicans, yet he is far too irrational and erratic for any long term role in guiding the Republican Party.

If my memory serves me correctly, was he not a Democrat a few years ago? His primary goal has always been to further Donald Trumps primary goals.

A not-insignificant portion of the Democratic Party is completely unenthused by the democratic establishment and the failure of Hillary to beat trump worsened that.

Nobody is thrilled to vote for Biden except for old people completely out of the loop. At best they think hes electable and want to use him as a holding pattern, at worse they for some reason expect him to embody a set of values he has never actually shown in his legislative career. Hes about as thrilling and inspiring as a tombstone and everyone knows it, even the trump brainlets who join in on the razzing

Yeah yeah I know but he still beat Bernie etc. It doesnt matter. Whenever Democrats pick these candidates who they treat as solemn necessities to defeat evil, it fails literally every time. You cannot fight populism with but we are the reasonable ones!, you have to find someone with the energy to approach that.

He also ran on the Reform Party's presidential ticket in 2000, after that failed he went back to being a Democrat. Though that only lasted until 2011. So it isn't like he flipped parties just to make a presidential run. Or if he did, he planned it out farther than people are capable of giving him credit for.

RNC's "Fuck it, Donald Trump" has been their most accidentally brilliant move since Ronald Reagan stole the 1976 convention and gave it to Carter anyway.

The democrats are better than this. Tulsi Gabbard got screwed.

Yeah, I agree, but at this point I don't understand what the DNC thinks "electable" is. I understand that Biden has more appeal for certain segments of the base, but that doesn't make him a good candidate.

That said, I don't know that the Dems had a single really good candidate to pick from.
