I plat'd the original and I'm enjoying this so far. I just beat the 1st palace and there isn't too much different yet but I do appreciate the small changes I've seen so far like ammo refilling after battle and DVD's having unlimited rentals, but you can only rent 1 at a time.

Apparently Morgana doesn't tell you to go to bed as much anymore either lol >_>

I just got the Thieves' Den and this is really cool! I always liked Trophy Rooms in games. And you can even play as other characters which is neat >_>

Beat the first palace on 4/20. That additional money they give you for a prior save is a little OP at the beginning. So I have a ton of free time to wait for his change of heart.

I can't remember the social stat requirements, so I am kinda winging it with all the new activities.

Actually using the social tips on what other players did that day, besides ignoring skull a lot.

Ryuji's S Link is probably my least favorite in the whole game. All he does is just bitch about Track the whole time >_>

Oh, I was wondering why the achievements for Royal was so weird >_> It's because all the normal achievements are in the Thieves' Den as in-game rewards. Huh.

I always want to be a smart ass, but the game actively punishes you for it.

Still, I want to max my S links.

I'm not worrying about it until NG+ when all my social stats are maxed. I feel like I'll burn out if I have my nose in a guide for a 100 hour game the whole time.

I wont get royal. I never finished the base game. I'm still in the artist dude's dungeon in that, and have been for a year now. I can't justify buying the game again for such a minimal content upgrade, tbqh.

Even after a palace or event, you can still do stuff around the cafe like study, clean, make tools, read, watch dvds, etc. The only thing you can't do is walk outside, so that's fine

What I don't like is they should have at least let us carry over our social stats from P5. Redoing them is a pain in the ass.

eh, I'm fine with it. It gives me an excuse to try the new stuff to build them up again.

I just wish they gave us something better for the old save file. 50k and a few healing items are a joke >_> I wish my compendium carried over so I don't have to refuse like 200 personas again

Got the councillor confidant and it's pretty cool so far. Some of the abilities are crazy though, like instantly heal from ailments or start a battle with Power and Mind Charge

Currently on the original. I'm on Kamoshida's palace, which is surprisingly long tbh, though maybe it's because you have to go there two times before the full exploration

Madarame has a new attack now. Instead of switching back and forth between painting form and human form, once he gets to the human form, he constantly summons elemental clones of himself (aka counterfeits >_>) that attack you.

It's neat but still alright. I liked Kamoshida's change where he had Mishima and Shiho in a bunny suit tossing volleyballs to him while he did super attacks

I am really impressed with all the little things they added. Small bits of extra dialogue, little animation changes, things that really stick out to someone who played the last one a lot, and really do bolster the storytelling in places. They poured over the game with a fine toothed comb, and refined a hell of a lot more than I expected. Bravo.

Here's another change. The twins unlock the ability to pay for fusing personas at a higher level than you at Rank 5, instead of alllll the way at Rank 10.

I was a little shocked the free dlc personas literally cost you nothing to pull out of the compendium the first time.

I admit I grabbed messiah picaro just to see if it would actually let me use it, and then didn't have the heart to dismiss it when I saw the rebuy price.

Beat Kamoshida (on vanilla, I don't have a PS4), and I'm loving the game now. Btw, does using different characters to take off Kamoshida's crown have different success rate? He found out Ann pretty quickly twice, took a bit longer for Ryuji, and I could only beat him with Morgana.

Worst/slowest part of P5 is halfway through the game. Lots of people stopped around the 4th and especially 5th palaces. Game really starts picking back up around the 6th palace.

Yeah, Ann always gets caught cuz he's won't stop staring at her big white girl titties. Ryuji and Morgana will succeed. idk if there's a difference in timing or not though. I think it has to do with how much damage you deal to him while they're gone.

The original definitely had a terrible pacing problem and the game dragged towards the end.

Meanwhile Royal is even longer cuz of all the new content and semester lol, but I'm hoping they fixed the pacing at least. That was definitely the most vocal problem from the original >_>

Honestly, it's not just that the 5th palace is the worst (which it definitely is, and I actually appreciate that theres even narrative reason for it to be so bad and unfulfilling), it's the literal in game WEEKS leading up to it. The schooltrip is lame and way less fun than similar events in past games, and Morgana's bitch fit is a slog and a half. Not to mention, it eats up WEEKS of time where you rather be doing confidants, jobs, mementos, etc, and you just... cant. it's definitely the weakest point narratively and structurally, and puts a bad taste in your mouth before you even get to the palace.

I guess my other problem is that there isn't enough funny goof-off bonding moments that all the other games had. There's a bunch in the beginning like the maid calling scene and Ann trying not to pose nude for Yusuke while Morgana lockpicks the door. But after the 3rd palace, it all dried up. They go to the beach and fucking nothing happens. They go to Destinyland and Hawaii but all do is just talk about Phantom Thieves stuff all the time; they never just relax and have dumb fun in those scenes. I really really hope Royal fixes that too >_>

I agree. Even when we get those scenes, they always end up ruined in some way. It kinda sucks that the team isnt really allowed any moments to be happy; the fireworks, the trip, the buffet, even the Christmas date, everything ends up ruined in some way; it's kind of a buzzkill tbh

I mean yeesh, even P3 has them beat in this category, and that's pituful

One thing they definitely improved on is that Haru does show up in earlier scenes once in a while with some dialogue. So she isn't just suddenly introduced 50 hours into the game as a party member out of nowhere lol
