Is it worth it if I already played the shit out of the original version?

I'm only at palace 4, so the new stuff is kinda minimal right now. There's 3 new S Links, a new area of Tokyo to explore, and a new school trip which was fun to watch. There is a bunch of little quality of life improvements like being able to do stuff in Leblanc at night even after a social event or a dungeon, baton pass being improved, and revamped s link awards.

I know later on there's a new semester, 2 new party members, and a new dungeon and ending. imo as of right now I'd get it on a sale but it's definitely a fun upgrade so far

Futaba's boss doesn't really have any new phases. The only thing I've noticed that changed is you only fire the ballista once to wound it, then you answer questions for Futaba to let her protect you from Wakaba's attacks until it tires out and dies

I was wondering how Shinya's s link would work with infinite ammo now. Down Shot now has a hard limit per visit. You can only use it once per day, or 3 times per day if you get his S Link high enough.

Having time to do social link like Ohya in the first playthrough, and just to boost a social stat? Works for me.

Now to wait till the class trip so I can get some free boosts with the phantom thieves so I can max their last ranks out without wasting visits.

I'm about to start palace 5 and this is where the game started declining for me in vanilla. I hope Royal fixes the palace so it's not as tedious.

Haru is still a stranger to the phantom thieves imo >_> They added a few extra scenes with her in the beginning of the game but it didn't help that much.

btw best girl Kawakami got an extra scene in Hawaii with her trying on a swimsuit to make her look young and sexy and Haru walks in on her lol. I think this was a reference to something in the anime

First one where I had to actually use my brain for more than a few minutes instead of just OP stealthing my way through like every other palace. I wanna say it was all the bits where you're flying through space while fiddling with door locks to progress? That's the part I kinda liked.

idk something about it was super tedious. I think it was just really long and some of the puzzles required you to run back and forth between switches and stuff. Casino was good again, but then Palace 7 and 8 sucked

Back and forth movement through Huang hallways, and the random encounters start really being bulky. Not the worst difficulty spike in the game but it really does make you spam sp items all over the place. Of course, I've got some sp adhesive 3s that I bought on sale this time around so endless sp? Very nice.

Are you kidding me? She's the most relatable and mature of all the teenage girl confidants besides maybe Hifumi. Heck, that entire sequence with her and Akechi discussing the phantom thieves was amazingly well done.

Also, if it's normal difficulty I can give some advice to make life easier. Rank 5 strength lets you fuse personas above your level. Rainy and especially torrential rainy days increase treasure demon appearances in mementos. Rank 7 Ryuuji lets you sometimes instakill enemies you ambush. You'll get plenty of exp in palaces and mementos battles, so use the stamps to boost money drops. Zoom around weaker parts of Mementos, instakill treasure demons, repeat.

Also alarms make itemized things better, an armor might go from 150 attack to 180 under an alarm with +5 endurance. The first fusion AND itemization under an alarm are risk free, so try and always do one of both.

Beat Palace 5. It's still pretty tedious. But I think they removed a section where you gotta interrogate a bunch of executives to find out which one is the real one. I remember there being waaaaaaay more in vanilla P5, but there was only 2 of them here.

I'll admit I had to retry a few times to get down darts and figure out the right dialogue so they finish it. Did it with Ann and Makoto in the same night, will wait til I get pinky unlocked to do it for her and Yusuke. :l Might have to reset if I can't get them both lol.

Did you at least get billiards and the secret rank? It involves buying one book at a time soon the store you'll go to for an event with hifumi. Adds extra elements you can follow up with for tech attacks.

Yeah and because of how Kasumi works you won't even need any hang out sessions to unlock the next event, so besides favoritism/ scenes there's not much point.

What meaningful changes have they made from the original P5?

I was considering picking it up, since I never did play P5, but I also heard Royal got really abusive with the DLC costs.
