Well known facts, thanks for mentioning. Steam chews up PC's and because phones exist in nearly every building a smartphone is little more than a $1000 (plus fees) tracking/advertising box.

After 20+ years of being on this site (not my original account sadly, purged for inactivity early on) Zeus was the first person to get so toxic I just couldn't read his garbage anymore late last year. Kyuubi shortly after.

I'm kind of surprised I'm not on more lists since everyone seems to have such a "boomer" hard on these days.

For the rest of the class, this was the guy who got butthurt because I pointed out the health problems associated with vaping (which he was defending harder than the CEO of Joule). All I ultimately did was post links to public health organizations and mainstream news stories discussing vaping. And that's what qualifies as "toxic" somehow.

I have no idea what he blocked Kyuubi for.

Technically, it doesnt matter if the phone is old or not. If its cheap, its cheap. Who said it had to be brand new. If it works, it works. And you can get newer phones cheaper. Sometimes, you might get a gently used one. And some have the phones where its a certain amount per month instead of actually buying it.

As for photos, thats why we invited you to to a store and see for yourself. But the reason you dont go is because youd find out how wrong you are.

As for your experience, its worthless compared to pretty much everybody else. Anybody whos use steam in the last few years would know of its offline mode. You havent use it in so many years, anything you say about it cant be taken seriously since at this point, everything about it could have changed. As for phones, since you seem to have never had a cell phone, you would also have no experience to speak of. Meaning what you say about them would also be meaningless...

I believe it was all phones. We were talking about cell phones is general. And people even mentioned different types on phones, and the cost of them. And he basically said everyone was lying and that they were all expensive, IIRC. Though, its probably been 6-12 months since that conversation...

Not all phones need charging every 2 hours. Depending on the phone, how much youre using it, and what youre using it for, the phone could easily last all day. And since people arent constantly on it, you can charge it when not in use. And when Im use, tbh. And while not all landlines need charging, cordless phones do.

Without a plan it's just a tablet and I have one of those. So you're kinda screwed into getting newer than older. What difference does it make whether you pay installments or up front? What constitutes as cheap depends on the person and phone. Could be a hundred for some of theolder smart phones. And used could make it cheaper. Even getting a phone for $200 that's normally $1000+ makes that cheap for a phone. Especially considering all that a cell phone can do. Again, depending on what it can do would also change the price of the phone. You can get some smarts for under $100, too. As for plans, you can have a contract with company, or get one of the pay as you go plans. Both can be cheap. I once had a phone bill with unlimited everything (calls, text, data) for $60 a month. The pay as you go is good for someone who doesn't use it a lot. And will be an expensive or cheap as you make it. And even some of the cheaper plans with a certain amount of minutes could have rollover...

As for older phones, you can usually ask about what it supports. And things will usually tell you if it supports it or not. That's easily checked on the internet. But normally, most places will sell you a phone that still works as a phone, and can still do other things. So, you don't actually have to get newer. The smart phone I use came out like 5 years ago. And I only got it because I could. I didn't need to, but I did have an upgrade and hadn't use it in a while. And I've stuck with this one. And, AFAIK, it'll last for more years to come. At least like 3 more or so. Maybe more.

If you're only checking one store, then you are still wrong. Just like with everything else, you have to look around. Not only that, but you have to really look for good deals. Or have friends who will tell you when a good deal is going on.

Mine would count because I've actually used it in the last week. Where as you haven't used it in years. You're experience doesn't count because you wouldn't know anything about it anymore. Steam has definitely changed over the years. It's changes slightly from when I first got it. If it's changed since you had it, you experience doesn't count anymore. It's as simple as that. If I haven't gone to a restaurant in 10 years, where someone went yesterday, then my experience would count as much as theirs when it comes to talking about food from that exact place. They could have changed ingredients since I last been. Or changed employees. Or gotten a new menu. Doesn't mean I have to go. But it does mean my experience wouldn't count. Or at the very least, wouldn't count nearly as much as the other person's...

You obviously aren't looking for the cheaper versions, then. A bunch of other people on this site have told you about their cheaper priced phones they bought. But you just outright don't believe them since you don't want to be proven wrong.

Well, since most people disagree with you, most people would actually conclude youre wrong. Plus, on your other post, you only mentioned one store, which made it seem like you didnt shop around. Plus, had you actually shopped around, you would have found cheaper phones. As for what to compare them to, maybe to other phones. Especially the same phone for the price it came out new with. Those prices drop fast as soon as a newer model is out. Or after its been out for a little while. And drop even more if its used. And its cheaper than buying multiple things that a phone could do. Like buying a phone would be cheaper than buying a laptop, camera, calculator, contact book, flashlight, and GPS unit. A phoo ok me can do all of that. And its probably quicker, too. Turning a laptop or camera on takes a couple seconds. Calculators can, too. Especially since phones are normally already on. Phones have an easily accessible contact list and calculator. Flashlight are usually on the quick menu thing of phones. And the GPS always felt quicker than my standalone unit. And its normally connected to the internet, even without having to connect to WiFi.

Yeah. Pay as you go. I mentioned that. So, maybe read what I wrote. Oh as you go means you can get a certain amount of minutes from those card things that you see in stores. That way, you dont need a plan. I also mentioned how some people have cheap plans. Like when I mentioned unlimited everything for $60 a month. I could be constantly talking of the phone while texting and on the internet for a month straight. And its only $60. Which I also mentioned in my other post. Its not free, sure. But most things arent. Like I also have to pay for my internet every month. But paying for minutes as you use them can be pretty cheap for some. Whether its better to pay as you go or get a contract depends on the individual...
